A Heart Laid Bare-2
Dana’s pleading words seemed to hang in the air, heavy with the weight of her emotions. She held Tim’s hand tightly, her tears mingling with his blood. She could feel the life slipping away from him, and a wave of panic threatened to overwhelm her.
Lora looked at Dana, her own tears falling freely. “Dana, you need to talk to him. Your voice might reach him where mine can’t.”
Dana nodded, her voice choked with emotion. “Tim, please. I know that I hurt you, and I’ve pushed you away, but I need you to fight. I need you to come back to me. Please”
Tim’s convulsions slowed, his body responding to Dana’s heartfelt plea. Lora continued to work her healing magic, her hands glowing with a soft, soothing light. Azriel stood behind her, his hand on her shoulder, lending her his strength.
Dana leaned closer to Tim, her voice a whisper. “I’m sorry, Tim. I’m so sorry for everything. Please, just wake up. I can’t lose you. You can’t die.”
Tim’s eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, he seemed to look directly at Dana, before slipping again in his agony, but his grip on her hand tightened.
“Lora, he’s responding,” Azriel said, his voice filled with hope.
Lora nodded, her focus unwavering. “We need to stabilize him. Dana, keep talking to him and hold his body. He needs to know you’re here. And the mate bond will help him. But he is still not outside the danger zone. The poison is deep inside his system.”
Dana continued to speak to Tim, her words a mixture of apologies and promises. Slowly, Tim’s breathing steadied, his body relaxing under Lora’s healing touch.
After what felt like an eternity, Lora finally stepped back, her face pale but relieved. “He’s stable for now, but he needs rest. We all do. Dana, we will need your help, and the mate bond is grounding him at the moment and helping him fight. Please spend the night close to him, which will help him
to be better.”
Dana looked at Tim, his face still pale but no longer ashen. She brushed a tear away, her heart swelling with relief and gratitude. “Thank you, Lora. I will stay with him.”
As the night descended, everyone settled into the cabin. The atmosphere was heavy with exhaustion and relief. The injured, aside from Tim, were already showing signs of recovery, their wounds healing slowly but steadily. The air was filled with the soft rustle of sleeping breaths and the occasional whisper of those standing guard.

Dana remained by Tim’s side, as she sat on the floor beside him, holding his hand while his head rested on her lap. She gently caressed his hair, her fingers moving in slow, soothing circles as she gazed at his handsome features. The moonlight streaming through the window illuminated his face, casting gentle shadows that accentuated his strong jawline and peaceful expression.
Dana’s heart ached with a mix of love and regret. She couldn’t take her eyes off him, drinking in every detail with a hunger börn of longing and fear. As she continued to caress him, each touch sent a tingling sensation through her, a sign that the mate bond was alive and well, despite the turmoil and distance.
She looked at him with sadness, realizing that she would do anything for this man. He was her everything. The Gods had truly blessed her with him, yet she felt unworthy of such a gift, plus that her current personal situation was like a curse. She was a slave, a pet without any free will. Her thoughts were a whirlwind of emotion, and she struggled to reconcile her feelings.
Glancing around, she noticed that everyone else was asleep. The temptation defeated her, and she leaned down, pressing her lips softly against Tim’s. The contact was like a million stars exploding, sending a wave of warmth and light through her, making her chest squeeze with a mix of joy and
sorrow.
As she adjusted her position, she lay down next to him, wrapping her arms around his torso. She held him gently, feeling the steady rise and fall of his chest against hers. “Just this time,” she
whispered to herself, allowing the moment of closeness to wash over her.
Unbeknownst to Dana, Tim’s eyes fluttered open. He looked at her with an intense gaze, his heart pounding as he felt her embrace. The warmth of her body, the gentle rhythm of her breathing, and the lingering sensation of her kiss all resonated deep within him. For a moment, he simply watched her, absorbing the raw emotion and vulnerability she displayed.
As Dana’s eyes closed, and she drifted into a light sleep, Tim’s gaze softened. He felt a surge of hope and determination. Despite the pain and the uncertainty, he knew that this moment was a
turning point as he realized that behind her cold attitude she cared about him. The bond between
them was undeniable, and he would not let her go this easily.
