Don’t Run-1
The next morning, the cabin was filled with tense anticipation as everyone gathered to check on the injured. Lora, with her hands glowing faintly from her healing efforts, made her rounds. Most of the warriors were on their feet, their wounds closed and their strength returning. However, Tim remained weak and still unconscious, his condition worrying everyone.
Azriel frowned, a deep line of concern etched on his face, and approached Lora. “What do you
think?” he asked quietly, his eyes flicking at Tim’s still form.
Lora looked conflicted. “I’ve done everything I can,” she replied. “With the amount of healing energy
I’ve put into him, he should be better than this. Maybe the infection was too great, or maybe there’s
something else at play.”
Azriel hummed in concern, his gaze turning to Tim, who lay asleep with Dana vigilantly watching
over him. Initially, Azriel had considered Dana to be a superficial woman, especially after her rejection of Tim. But seeing her reaction and the depth of her worry, he realized that she cared deeply for his Delta, despite her cold demeanor.
“We can’t delay any longer,” Azriel said firmly, turning back to Lora. “Staying here makes us sitting
ducks for another attack.”
Lora nodded reluctantly. “I understand, but I’m hesitant to travel with Tim still so vulnerable.”
“He’ll have to make it,” Azriel replied. “We have no choice.”
Azriel ordered everyone to prepare for departure. They loaded the convoy, and Tim and Dana
traveled with them in the same SUV. As they hit the road, Azriel noticed Dana’s exhaustion, her
eyes drooping as she kept a constant vigil over Tim throughout the night. Eventually, she fell
asleep, her head resting against the window while she held Tim’s hand. Lora, too, succumbed to
exhaustion, her head resting on Azriel’s shoulder. He encouraged her to rest, knowing that another wave of infected awaited her healing. The morning healing session along with the pregnancy were
making her more exhausted than usual.
Once they were in an area with a signal, Azriel contacted Markus and briefed him on the attack. Markus’s voice became agitated, and he mentioned that Layzal was worried as well.
“We’ll send additional warriors from the Praetorian Guard to ensure your safety,” Markus assured him. “Do you have any idea who was behind the attack?”
“On the surface, they were rogues,” Azriel replied. “But…”
“But what?” Markus pressed.

Azriel’s expression hardened. “They were too well-organized, and the number was too high. This was
a coordinated and intentional attack.”
“Be safe, my friend,” Markus urged before ending the call.

As Azriel put away his phone, he noticed Tim’s eyes fluttering slightly before closing quickly. He lifted an eyebrow in surprise and greeted Tim via mind link: **Welcome back to the living, Tim. You
gave us a serious scare. **
Tim’s voice was weak but tinged with amusement. **How did you figure out I was conscious? **
Azriel snickered. **I am an Alpha, after all. Now, why are you pretending to be unconscious? Lora is
worried sick about you.
**It seems this is the only way to reach my mate,** Tim replied with a hint of desperation.
Azriel chuckled softly, shaking his head. **You old dog, still full of tricks. But I am happy that you are
OK.**
Tim managed a faint smile, feeling a bit more at ease knowing that Azriel had his back.
By nightfall, the convoy reached their new destination, a secluded vampire coven hidden deep within the forest. The vampires welcomed them cautiously, their eyes reflecting both hope and skepticism. Lora and Azriel, seasoned in their healing routine, got to work immediately. As Lora moved among the infected, her hands glowing with healing energy, Azriel coordinated the process, ensuring everything went smoothly.
Hours later, exhausted but satisfied with their efforts, Lora and Azriel retired to their assigned rooms. Before settling in, Azriel decided to check on Tim once more. He found Dana keeping a vigilant watch over him, her expression a mix of concern and weariness.
“Warrior Dana,” Azriel said softly, “I know you’ve been watching over Delta Tim tirelessly. Would you mind continuing to monitor him through the night? Just to make sure there are no issues.”
