Shadows and Fog-2
“We’re under attack!” Tim shouted, his voice cutting through the chaos.

The group mobilized quickly, spilling out of the vehicles to face the threat. Rogues poured in from all directions, overwhelming them with sheer numbers. The battle was fierce, the air filled with snarls and aggression. Despite their efforts and strengths, the odds were against them as the number of rogues was way too high.
Lora found herself in a dangerous position, a rogue bearing down on her. Just as the rogue lunged, Tim jumped in front of her, taking the blow. His abdomen was slashed, and a searing pain coursed through his body. The sight of Tim’s injury fueled the group’s desperation.
After what felt like an eternity, they managed to push back the attackers, but not without significant casualties. Several members, including Tim, were critically injured. Lora, despite her exhaustion, rushed to their side, her hands glowing faintly as she tried to heal them.
Azriel grabbed her arm, his voice firm yet gentle. “Lora, heal only the life-threatening wounds for now to ensure they survive. Don’t push yourself too hard. Their wolves will take care of the rest.”
To everyone’s shock and horror, the wounds did not close as expected. A dark realization settled over them, they were infected with wolfsbane.
Tim lay on the ground, his face pale and contorted with pain. Lora knelt beside him, tears streaming down her face. “I can’t… I can’t heal them all,” she whispered, her voice cracking with
helplessness.
Azriel’s eyes were dark with concern, but he kept his composure. “We’ll find a way. We just need to get them to a safe place and remove the wolfsbane. Fast!”
The convoy quickly regrouped, loading the injured back into the vehicles. The atmosphere was tense, the weight of the situation pressing down on them. Tim’s breathing was shallow, each breath a struggle.
As they sped towards safety, Lora held Tim’s hand, her heart breaking at the sight of his pain. “Stay
with us, Tim,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “We’ll get you through this.”
Tim managed a weak smile, his eyes fluttering open. “I’m not going anywhere,” he murmured, his
voice strained but determined.
Lora nodded, squeezing his hand tightly. “We will. Just hang on.”
The journey felt endless, every bump and jolt magnifying the urgency of their mission. They finally
arrived at a nearby wooden cabin, where they could tend to the wounded.

<Shadows and Fog-2
What they didn’t know was that earlier, in the chaos of battle, two silent figures observed them from the shadows, hidden from all eyes. They had witnessed the ambush, the fierce fight, and the desperate struggle to heal the wounded. As the convoy departed, leaving behind the temporary battle ground, the shadows remained, unmoving and unnoticed.
The taller of the two figures turned to the other, his eyes glinting with a calculating gaze. “Hmm.. so this is the Goddess Gift,” he mused, his tone pensive.
“It seems so,” the shorter figure replied, his voice tinged with curiosity. “I must say, I am not too impressed. I was expecting… more. She could barely heal some superficial wounds.”
The taller figure nodded slowly, his lips curling into a smirk. “I agree. But, she would make an excellent … pet.”
A low, mocking laugh escaped the shorter figure. “Hahahaha. Indeed. She has potential, if properly… conditioned.”
The taller figure’s eyes narrowed as he considered their next move. “Tell our scouts to just report and observe… for now. We will deal with them at the right moment.”
With a final glance at the now-empty battlefield, the two figures melted into the shadows,
vanishing into the morning fog.
