Mate!-1

Lora and Azriel, accompanied by their trusted guards, made their way towards the border to meet with the vampire delegation. Azriel had left his Beta in charge and entrusted Mary with their son, Asher. The parting was heart-wrenching, especially as Asher, despite his independence, clung to them, tears in his eyes.

“We’re doing this for him, for everyone,” Azriel said to Lora, his voice firm but his heart aching.

Lora nodded, her face grim. Leaving Asher was one of the hardest things she had ever done. But there was no other option.

As they reached the border, they were greeted by four vampire warriors, all dressed in sleek leather suits. Lora looked at them in awe; it was the first time she had seen vampires in person. They were strikingly beautiful and flawless, far different from what she had imagined from history books.

The vampire leader, a tall and imposing woman named Ana, stepped forward. “I am Ana, and these

are my warriors, Bana, Cana and Dana” she said, her voice cool and authoritative.

Before anyone could respond, Tim froze in place as if struck by lightning. “Mate,” he whispered, his

voice trembling as he stared at one of the female vampires, Dana, The intensity of his gaze was

matched by her own, her face immovable but her eyes betraying a flicker of recognition.

Ana glanced between Tim and the female vampire before saying in a commanding voice, “Let’s

start moving; time is of the essence.”

Ana’s eyes scanned the werewolf group, confusion evident on her face. “Who is the healer?” she

asked, looking from one member to another, seeing in front of her a mix of women and men.

Azriel replied, “We all are.”

Ana frowned. “If we didn’t know who the healer was, we wouldn’t be able to protect her in case of

an attack.”

Azriel maintained his position. “We all are, and this information should be enough,” he repeated, his voice steady.

Ana’s eyes narrowed, but she didn’t press further. “Very well. Follow us, and stay alert.”

The group began their journey after they boarded the tinted SUVs, the atmosphere tense but focused. The group mixed, a vampire warrior being placed in each car. Tim could not break his eyes from his mate, but to his disappointment, he was placed in a car with Ana herself, to his disappointment. All he wanted right now was to be close to Dana, but at the same time a battle was inside him: his mate was a vampire!

Lora glanced at Tim with compassion before turning to Azriel and mind-linking him. *What a mess, poor Tim. He looks defeated. To be mated with a vampire.*

Azriel nodded, agreeing with her. *I totally agree with you, but if this was the Goddess’s plan, who knows.*

Lora reached out to Tim via mind-link. *Are you okay?*

Tim’s response was filled with confusion. *I have no idea. I can barely contain my wolf. It’s confusing, especially with her lack of reaction.*

*Will you accept her or reject her?* Lora asked, concerned.

*I have no idea,* Tim admitted. *Especially considering her lack of enthusiasm. Plus, I never

imagined that I would be mated with another supernatural than a she-wolf.*

Lora tried to comfort him. *Everything would be okay.*

After hours of driving, they finally reached one of the vampire covens. As the group exited the cars, the werewolves could feel the presence of vampires around them, causing the hair on the back of

their necks to stand up. Tim, visibly agitated, turned to Azriel. *I don’t like this.*

*Calm down,* Azriel replied. *They need us, and we need them. We are okay.*

Suddenly, a tall and handsome vampire appeared in front of them in a blur, greeting them with a

nod, “What an honor, Alpha Azriel. I should have expected nothing less from Markus.”

“Prince Layzal,” Azriel replied, nodding back in a respectful gesture.

Layzal’s gaze shifted to Lora. “And who might this be?” he asked, pointing at her.

Azriel introduced her. “This is my mate and Luna, Lora.”

Layzal was polite, offering a courteous bow. “Interesting that you took her with you. But a

pleasure,” he said before inviting them inside.

As they followed Layzal into the vampire coven, Lora couldn’t help but feel a mix of anxiety and

curiosity. The atmosphere inside was dimly lit, with an eerie but elegant ambiance. The vampires they passed were poised and graceful, their eyes following the werewolf delegation with a mix of

interest and caution.
