Late in the evening, Markus arrived at his chambers, expecting to find Kaia in their bedroom, but to his surprise, she was not there. He regretted not being the one to officially show her the room that they would share going forward, but the day had been long and exhausting, filled with formalities, meetings, and urgent matters that required his attention. The ceremony earlier in the evening had officially made Kaia a part of his pack, and they had shared a brief dinner together with the rest of the family and close court members before he was called away again.

Looking at his watch, Markus saw that it was quite late. He was about to mind link Kaia when he heard a sound coming from the en-suite bathroom. Curiosity piqued, he approached the door and slowly opened it. What he saw made him freeze in place.

Kaia was in the bathtub, looking like a goddess with her rich hair gathered in a high bun atop her head. The soft candlelight reflected off the water, casting a warm, ethereal glow around her. She

had her eyes closed, a serene expression on her face.

Markus made a slight noise, and Kaia’s eyes suddenly opened, locking onto his. The moment felt like an electric current passed between them. They stared at each other intensely before Kaia’s lips curled into a big smile.

“Want to join me?” she asked, her voice low and inviting.

Markus was taken aback. He was used to Kaia being shy and reserved, not this bold seductress

before him. Recovering quickly, he smiled predatory in her direction and began to undress.

As he stepped into the bathtub with her, the warm water enveloping his tired muscles, he couldn’t

help but admire her beauty, and the faint white lines that were still present here and there on her

body were a display of her strength and resilience. Kaia shifted, making space for him, and they

settled into a comfortable position, facing each other.

Markus reached out, gently caressing her cheek. “You surprise me more every day,” he murmured.

Kaia chuckled softly. “I guess being a future Queen brings out new sides of me.”

He leaned in, capturing her lips in a slow, tender kiss. The worries of the day melted away as they held each other, the warmth of the water and their bodies creating a cocoon of intimacy.

They talked for a while, sharing their thoughts and concerns. Kaia told him about her day, how she had felt overwhelmed by the crowd but had drawn strength from him. Markus shared his worries about the growing crisis and the plans he had discussed with his father.

As the water cooled, they finally decided to get out. Markus wrapped Kaia in a soft towel, kissing her forehead. “Let’s get some rest; he said. “We have a lot to do tomorrow.”

Kaia nodded, feeling a mix of exhaustion and contentment. They dried off and climbed into bed, the day’s events replaying in their minds. But as they held each other close, the future didn’t seem as daunting.
