Azriel looked at her with a mixture of admiration and concern. “Kaia, your new abilities… they’re incredible, but they also make you a target. You need to be careful, and I would suggest keeping this a secret.”
Kaia nodded. “I understand. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect our people and I agree with you. We don’t want to share it with anyone else.”
Markus took her hand and squeezed it gently. “We need to stay strong and united. Together, we can overcome this.”
Azriel stood up, his expression resolute. “I’ll brief Lora on our strategy and make sure she’s ready for what’s to come. Let’s get to work.”
Markus nodded, standing as well. “I’ll contact Layzal and inform him of our plan. We’ll need his
cooperation to ensure safe passage through vampire territory.”
As Azriel left to find Lora, Markus turned to Kaia, his eyes filled with determination. “We’ll get
through this, my love. It will not be easy, and I know that it can be scary, but we have each other as
support.”
Kaia squeezed his hand back, her eyes shining with determination. “I believe in us, Markus. We can
do this.”
After that moment, Markus stood by the window, phone in hand, as he dialed Layzal’s number. The
sun had barely risen, casting a soft glow over the Stormheart Pack House. Kaia sat nearby, her eyes following Markus with a mix of concern and curiosity.
Layzal answered on the second ring. “Markus.”
“Hello, Layzal,” Markus began. “We’ve discussed our strategy, and we’re ready to move forward. Our medical teal will start with your vampire princess. We’ll alternate between healing werewolf packs and vampire covens. The plan is to start with the smaller groups, to limit the spread as much as we can geographically.”
Layzal was silent for a moment, then he spoke, his voice laced with surprise and excitement. “You’re bringing the Goddess Gift to heal my beloved? This is… incredible news. Thank you, Markus. I will not forget this gesture; this I can promise.”
Markus nodded, even though Layzal couldn’t see him. “We know the stakes. But we need to ensure her safety and the safety of everyone involved. Also, we need to make sure that she can heal the vampires, so we are giving it a try. Before, she healed only humans, so we are not sure how it will
work on other supernaturals.”

“Understood,” Layzal replied. “I’ve already deployed a team of four vampiresses. They’re deadly well-trained, and will provide full protection for your delegation. They also carry a royal sealed document that guarantees full passage anywhere in our territories and full protection.”
Markus raised an eyebrow, impressed. “You’ve prepared well. I’m grateful for the support.”
Layzal laughed, the sound rich and warm. “We vampires have our ways, Markus. The team is already waiting at the border with the Stormheart pack.”
Markus was taken aback. “How did you know where we were?”
Layzal chuckled again. “You’re not the only one with tricks up your sleeve, Markus. We’ll take care of our own.”
Several hours later, the four of them met again in Alpha’s office. Markus and Kaia were ready to return to the Royal Pack, while Azriel, Lora, and a few trusted guards, including Tim, prepared to meet the vampire delegation.
Markus embraced Azriel, their bond as brothers-in-arms strengthened by the gravity of their mission. “Take care of her, Azriel. And if it is too much, stop her. Her well-being is paramount, my friend.”
Azriel nodded solemnly. “I will. I don’t like this too much that she will be exposed to the world, but it is the only way and even me, in my selfishness, I know it. To reduce the risks, she will wear a face cover when she heals, and I took with me a few volunteer female warriors with a similar body structure. In this way, I am trying to decrease the target that she will have on her head. I know it
sounds like a conspiracy theory, but better safe than sorry. Keep us updated on your end. We’ll do the same.”
Lora hugged Kaia tightly. “Be safe, Kaia. We’ll get through this.”
Kaia smiled, though her eyes were serious. “You too, Lora. We’ll see each other soon.”
Tim, in charge of their trip security, stood with his hand on the hilt of his weapon belt. “Ready when you are, Alpha.”
Markus nodded, feeling the weight of his responsibilities. “Let’s move out.”
The two groups split at the entrance of the Pack House. Markus and Kaia climbed into the helicopter, the rotors spinning up with a deafening roar. Azriel, Lora, and their guards headed towards the border, where the vampiresses awaited.
As the helicopter lifted off, Kaia looked out the window, her hand gripping Markus’s tightly. “Do you think they’ll be safe?”
Markus squeezed her hand reassuringly. “They’re in good hands. Azriel and Lora are strong, and

with the vampire protection, they’ll manage.”
Kaia nodded, though worry still clouded her eyes. “I hope this alliance holds.”

“It will,” Markus replied confidently. “We’re all fighting for our survival. That’s a powerful bond.”
The flight back to the royal pack was tense but uneventful. Markus spent most of the time going over plans in his head, while Kaia rested her head on his shoulder, seeking comfort in his presence.
As they approached his castle, Kaia remembered how just some time ago she had been flying
towards her pack with a broken heart, and now she was back but like their Queen.
She just realized something, as she turned panicked towards Markus, “Markus, did you get the
chance to speak with your family and the Council that you now have a mate?”
Markus looked at her with a troubled expression, “Not yet, my love. I wanted to tell this personally
but with all this crisis that is happening now, I didn’t get the chance. But don’t worry, everything will
be fine and everyone will love you.”
“Yeah, right… especially his mother and that Angelika,” Sierra spoke in her mind.
Kaia frowned in agreement with her wolf, “I know, Sierra. Trust me, I know.”
