Common Threat-3

Before he could reply, Layzal moved in a blur, suddenly behind his mate, Kaia. He placed his hands on her shoulders. “What would you do if your mate were in deadly danger? Time is of the essence. Every minute we wait, the sickness worsens for my beloved mate. So, what is your decision?”

Markus growled, fury erupting instantly. “Remove your hands from her, now!”

To everyone’s surprise, Kaia put her own hands on top of Layzal’s. As soon as she touched his skin, her body convulsed, and she almost lost consciousness. Layzal caught her just before she hit the

ground.

The werewolf Praetorian guards pulled their weapons, and Markus was ready to charge at Layza But the vampire prince raised a hand. “Relax. She will be okay in a few minutes.”

Markus pushed Layzal aside as he cradled Kaia in his arms, his rage barely contained. “What did you do to her? I swear if..”

“I did nothing,” Layzal replied calmly, cutting his threat.

“Then why did she faint?” Markus growled, becoming panicked.

Layzal’s eyes glinted with amusement. “Interesting,” he murmured,

Markus’s anger flared. “What the fuck is so interesting?”

“It’s quite fascinating that the new werewolf queen is a Seer. You have next to you a true weapon. Who would have thought,” Layzal said.

“What?” Markus asked, confusion and suspicion lacing his voice.

“I can feel that she is a Seer,” Layzal repeated. “She can see the future. I suggest you keep her well-guarded and in your sight all the time. Werewolves with abilities are rare and highly sought

after.”

Markus looked at Kaia in shock. She was awake now, but clearly shaken. “Is it true?” he asked her

in disbelief.

Kaia looked conflicted, her eyes reflecting a mixture of confusion and fear. “I…I don’t know. I am not sure,” she admitted. “But when I touched him, I saw things. Horrible things. A vision of

destruction and death. I think…I think he might be right.”

“Maybe it is just panic, my love, you knew that you could see the future?” he asked her, again

conflicted.

Kaia nodded her head, “Yes, I knew that Lora was pregnant even before she did. I could actually

see her babies. Not sure what is happening or why now. I am still trying to figure things out, but!’ these last images were gruesome, Markus. So much death, so much destruction,… I am scared.” Markus felt his world tilt. The revelation that Kaia was a Seer changed everything. He tightened his hold on her, his protective instincts flaring. “We’ll figure this out together,” he promised her.

Turning back to Layzal, Markus’s expression was one of grim determination. “You have your alliance. But know this: if you betray us, there will be no mercy. And, our condition is to use the Goddess Gift with caution. We can’t heal everyone at once. We will need a plan.”

“What do you mean? You can send us your healers with the cure. Even your guards if needed, as long as our people are healed,” Layzal replied, conflicted.

“It is not that easy, first we need to get the necessary agreement and make an action,” Markus replied.

“I don’t follow you,” Layzal added, frowning his eyebrows.

“The Goddess Gift is a person,” Markus replied with a grim expression.
