Miserable-2

Markus shook his head. “No, I realized my mistake and offered Kaia the opportunity to mark me as

well, which she did.”

Azriel shook his head, a mix of disbelief and sympathy on his face. “It seems we’re both idiots

today.”

Markus snickered. “Some more than others.”

They exchanged a knowing look, then said in unison, “Let’s go take our mates back

Agreeing, they left the office and made their way to Azriel’s villa. Once inside, they found Kaia and Lora on the couch, both clearly not in a good mood from the look that they received. The men greeted them, but the women just glared in return.

Markus started, “Kaia, can we please talk?”

Kaia crossed her arms. “This is not a good moment, and I’m fine where I am.”

Markus persisted. “Azriel and Lora need to talk as well.”

Lora interjected, “I enjoy Kaia’s presence, and she is not going anywhere.”

Kaia nodded in agreement. Markus looked at Azriel, then made a bold move. He captured Kaia in his arms and lifted her, placing her over his shoulder.

Kaia screamed, “Put me down, you caveman!”

Markus slapped her butt, making her freeze in shock. “No way, mate. We’re going to our room. Bye, Lora,” he said, heading for the exit with a wiggling Kaia on his shoulder.

Azriel stood there, stunned, as Markus carried Kaia out. He turned to Lora, who looked equally shocked. “Lora,” he began softly, “can we please talk?

Lora, still hurt and angry, shook her head. “I don’t want to speak with you right now.”

To her surprise, Azriel ignored her resistance and sat next to her, pulling her into a big, enveloping hug. She tried to escape his grasp, but his strength easily outmatched hers. He kissed her on the temple, his breath warm against her skin. “Please forgive me for today,” he whispered. “I realize I made a mistake by not speaking with you before on this topic. I didn’t want you to be worried. I love you and our son more than anything.”

Lora sat quietly in his arms, her sadness palpable through their mate bond. Azriel felt her emotions like a physical weight, making him feel worse.

He took a deep breath and continued, “I can’t hide the fact that I don’t want to change my opinión

about having more children right now. Please try to understand me.”

Lora’s eyes glistened with unshed tears as she looked at him. “But what if it happens? What if we have more children now? What would you do in that situation?”

Azriel frowned, trying to keep his composure. “Let’s not make suppositions and dramatic

scenarios, Lora.”

Lora’s gaze bore into his, unwavering. “These are not suppositions. It’s not dramatic.”

Azriel’s eyebrows knitted together in confusion. “What? What do you mean?”

She took a deep breath, her voice steady but filled with emotion. “I’m pregnant, Azriel.”

Azriel froze, his mind racing. “What? What do you mean you’re pregnant?”

Lora nodded, her eyes never leaving his. “Yes, I’m pregnant. You’re going to be a father again.”

Azriel’s mouth opened and closed several times as he tried to process the information. “Do you mean… we’re having one more baby?” he stammered.

Lora shook her head slowly, a small, bittersweet smile playing on her lips. “No, Azriel. We’re having

two. I’m pregnant with twins.”

Azriel’s eyes widened in shock. “What?! Twins?”

Lora nodded again, this time with more certainty. “Yes, twins. We’re going to have two more

babies.”

For a moment, Azriel was speechless. The room seemed to spin around him as he tried to come to terms with this unexpected news. He looked at Lora, seeing the mixture of fear, sadness, and a hint of hope in her eyes. He took her hands in his, squeezing them gently but firmly.

“I’m sorry, Lora,” he said, his voice breaking. “I was so focused on trying to protect you that I lost sight of what’s most important. I am sorry to let you feel alone with this! You know that I love you, and I’ll love our children, all of them, with everything I have. I promise you, we’ll face this together,

no matter what.”

Lora’s tears finally spilled over, but she smiled through them. “That’s all I needed to hear, Azriel. I felt so scared and heartbroken when I heard your words today. I am scared as well, Azriel, and I am

concerned about the future. I am not blind to what is happening. But we should not stop living our

lives and having a family because of fear.”
