Happiness and Pain-2
Happiness and Pain-2
Lora nodded slowly. “I’m okay, Azriel.”
“What’s happening?” he asked, his voice full of worry.
Lora took a deep breath, looking into his eyes. “You tell me what’s happening.”
Azriel sighed, a guilty look crossing his face. “Did Kaia tell you?”
“Yes, she did. And I shouldn’t have to hear this from Kaia, Azriel. We’re partners, or are we not?”
He lowered his head, remorse in his voice. “I didn’t want to worry you, especially since you weren’t. feeling well.”
Lora took a long, calming breath. “We need to help, Azriel.”
He nodded but looked at her with deep concern. “Lora, the situation is dire. The risks are much higher this time.”
She met his gaze steadily. “Yes, there are risks. But it’s our duty to create a better future for the next generation, for our children.”
Azriel’s expression grew even more somber. “I love our son more than anything, but given how serious the situation is, no child should meet this world in its current state. The situation is really
bad.”
Lora’s heart ached at his words. “You don’t mean that,” she whispered, her voice trembling.
He shook his head sadly. “I’m just being honest, Lora. The outbreak is spreading rapidly, this mysterious disease is claiming lives for which we don’t have a source or a cure, and there’s a vampire threat looming, as the damn creatures are testing our borders. It’s not safe, especially for children who are the most vulnerable.”
Tears streamed down Lora’s face as she looked at him in shock. “You want to tell me that you don’t want children anymore?”
Azriel’s eyes were filled with sorrow. “Maybe not now, Lora. The situation is too unstable, and the risks are too high. I love Asher and I would do anything for him, but it would be selfish to try to become parents now.”
“And what if it is still happening?” Lora asked him.
“It is not possible,” he answered.
“But how can you be so sure?” she pressed.

Happiness and Pain-2
“It is not possible because I didn’t knotted you again,” Azriel admitted as he looked at the floor.”
Lora was in shock at his words, while a wave of rage crossed her body, “You want to tell me that you held it back intentionally even without clearing this with me, without even a discussion? I have a say in this as well. For the Goddess’ sake, it is my body!”
Azriel looked at her conflicted, “Let’s not argue about this, love. Please. I am thinking about you, about us. Don’t take it the wrong way.”
Lora’s anger and disappointment washed over her in waves, leaving her feeling dazed and
overwhelmed. She looked at Azriel, her eyes filled with a mixture of exhaustion, betrayal and hurt.
“Get out,” she said, her voice trembling.
Azriel blinked, taken aback. “What?”
“Just get out. I can’t face you right now,” she replied, tears welling up in her eyes.
“Please don’t exaggerate, Lora. Why are we even arguing about this? What is the point considering
the current situation?” Azriel said, trying to calm her down.
“You dare ask me what is the point?! It’s not an exaggeration at all,” she retorted, her voice rising. “You disrespected me by making a decision for both of us without even discussing it with me.”
Azriel opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say anything, Lora grabbed a pillow and
threw it at him, her scream echoing through the room. “Get out!”
Azriel raised his hands in surrender, feeling the full weight of her distress and sadness. He
regretted his bluntness, but he still believed he was right. Until things calmed down, there was no
place for another baby. Plus, Asher was already a handful, as expected from an alpha heir.
As he turned to leave the villa, he saw Kaia entering. He opened his mouth to say something, but
one look from her shut him up instantly. She scoffed at him and said one word, “Idiot,” before storming towards Lora’s room.
Once the door closed behind Kaia, Azriel could hear Lora’s sobs, which pierced his heart like a dagger. His wolf peeked from inside him, questioning whether they had done the right thing.
“We did the right thing,” Azriel muttered to himself, trying to convince both his wolf and his own troubled mind. “Once she sees the destruction and pain of other families due to the pandemic outbreak, she’ll understand that I was right.”
With that thought, he made his way towards his office where Maxime was waiting for him.
