Royal Tensions-1
In the days that followed, Markus continued his evening visits to Kaia’s room. Despite her
unconscious state, he let Stinger create a safe environment with his aura around them. Each time
he was there, her medical machines spiked with activity, which gave him hope. After more than two weeks, this became a ritual. Every evening, he would sit in the visitor’s seat, holding her hand and telling her about his day. He longed for the day when she would open her eyes, but it still hadn’
happened.
One evening, after spending time with Kaia, Markus returned to his chambers, tired. All he wanted was a good shower and his bed. As he opened his bedroom door, he was suddenly assaulted by a foreign scent. To his surprise, he came face to face with a very naked girl standing in his room.
“Angelica, what the hell are you doing? Get dressed and get out this instant,” he demanded, his
voice filled with anger.
Angelica was the daughter of one of the royal councilors, an ambitious and cunning girl who
always liked to have her way.
Angelica smiled seductively, unfazed by his fury. “We would be a great match, My King. I heard about your bad luck with your fated mate; Alena, that you rejected, Considering that you might soon choose a mate, give me a chance to prove what a good match we can be together. You were alone for so long. Let me show you how good you can feel.”
Markus was speechless, his rage bubbling over. “Get. Out. Now.”
Ignoring his command, Angelica sauntered closer, her eyes gleaming with ambition. “Think about it, Markus. I could give you everything you need. Loyalty, pleasure, an heir.”
Markus’s eyes darkened with fury. “This is not up for discussion, Angelica. Leave. Now.”
Angelica’s smile faltered as she realized he was not swayed. “In the coming days you will see the truth that I can be the one for you.”
With a huff, she gathered her clothes and left the room, throwing him a last, longing glance over her shoulder. Markus slammed the door behind her, his mind reeling as she could barely hold back Stinger from ripping her to shreds. It would have been a royal disaster.
He leaned against the door, closing his eyes. The image of Kaia lying unconscious, fighting for her life, contrasted sharply with Angelica’s audacity.
The next day, as Markus entered the dining hall, he greeted his parents, who were seated at the table. His mother, Tonya, smiled warmly, while his father, Anton, gave a nod of acknowledgment.

“Good morning,” Markus said, taking his seat and pouring himself a glass of orange juice.
“Good morning, dear,” Tonya replied sweetly. After a few moments of polite conversation, she asked, “Did you like the gift I sent you last night?”
Markus nearly choked on his orange juice. He stared at his mother, speechless, before his face
turned red with anger. He struggled to find words that wouldn’t be hurtful.
Anton, noticing the tension, looked between his son and his wife. “What did you do this time,
Tonya?” he asked in a resigned voice.
Tonya smiled, unfazed. “Nothing for you to be worried about, darling.”
Markus snapped, unable to contain his fury. “Sending a naked councilor’s daughter to my
chambers is not nothing. What was in your head?”
“You did what?” Anton exclaimed, outraged.
Tonya’s expression hardened. “Markus, you will soon be one century old. You need an heir! Our dynasty is at stake, and Angelica is a fine choice for a queen. After the fiasco with your fated mate, you need to make a choice.”
“Over my dead body,” Markus shot back, his voice trembling with anger.
Tonya waved a dismissive hand. “Don’t be dramatic, Markus.”
Markus slammed his fist on the table, making the dishes rattle. “This is not about being dramatic. You cannot control my life, especially not by sending a woman to seduce me. I have responsibilities, and I will not be manipulated.”
Tonya’s eyes flashed with irritation. “I am only thinking of our family. We need stability, an heir. You are being irresponsible. You are the King!”
Markus stood up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor. “Irresponsible? I handle the affairs of our realm, fighting rogues, vampires, and trying to ensure our survival. You think an heir is what we need right now? We might have a pandemic on our hands. We need strength and unity, not deceit and manipulation.”
