"Gentlemen, as you can see, this is Lisbon. He was Silas's middleman for laundering the company's assets."
Pierce pointed at the battered man kneeling on the floor, his eyes locked furiously onto Silas. "Over the years, Silas consistently used Lisbon to submit fabricated projects to the Sterling Group."
"He abused his position to systematically bleed this company dry."
Pierce took a thick stack of documents from Quentin and slammed it onto the conference table. "And these are the exact financial records proving exactly how he hollowed out our assets."
The shareholders scrambled to grab the files. As they flipped through the sensitive data and manipulated ledgers, their faces darkened with fury.
"Silas, you sly bastard. You played the saint in front of us while pulling this filthy scam behind our backs!"
"You animal! Absolute animal! You stole nearly a billion dollars over the years. You were trying to destroy the Sterling Group!"
"And to think we believed you'd be a capable leader. You just wanted the CEO chair to finish robbing us blind!"
Whether they were Silas's loyalists or neutral parties, the entire room turned on him instantly.
They were businessmen; profit was their only loyalty.
Now that Silas had directly attacked their wallets, any remaining support they had for him vanished.
Facing the venom of the entire room, Silas began to laugh maniacally. "What a pity! I was just one step too late. If I had moved faster, everything in the Sterling Group would have been mine."
"One step too late?" Pierce scoffed coldly, glaring down at the pathetic man. An absolute, freezing murderous intent flashed in his eyes.
"You weren't one step late. You were a million steps behind. You thought your master plan was flawless, but everything you did played right into my hands."
Silas's expression shattered into pure horror. "What did you say?! You... you knew my entire plan?!"
"Exactly. From the moment Penelope hired that hitman, I have been watching your every single move."
Realization hit Silas like a freight train. He suddenly remembered Pierce showing up late at night to confront him about Penelope. It hadn't been about her at all—it was a probe to test his defenses.
The truth finally crashed down on him.
He looked up at Pierce. The image of the naive boy he once knew overlaid with the terrifying titan standing before him. Pierce had shed his innocence long ago.
"Pierce, can we recover the stolen funds?" the shareholders demanded anxiously.
Pierce shook his head. "The investigation is still ongoing. But rest assured, I will give you a satisfactory resolution."
"We trust you entirely! Whatever you need, just say the word. We'll cooperate fully!"
Their words were dripping with honey.
