Outcast Queen: Her Return from Hell novel Chapter 298

"Phoenix, are you out of your mind?! Pulling guns on the board of directors?" Silas roared, pointing an accusatory finger at her. "Do you really think you can force us into submission with violence? If a lunatic like you takes the CEO chair, the Sterling Group is finished!"

Phoenix threw him a condescending look and scoffed. "You actually think I want this job?"

"What do you mean?" Silas's pupils shrank as a suffocating wave of dread crashed over him.

"She means this hot potato isn't worth her time."

The voice was terrifyingly familiar, sending a violent tremor down Silas's spine. He snapped his head toward the door.

The heavy doors were pushed completely open.

Everyone in the room forgot how to breathe.

The man who walked in was a far cry from his usual immaculately tailored self.

His shirt collar was torn open, and his black trench coat was stained with dark streaks of mud and blood. His damp, messy hair only added a raw, predatory edge to his presence.

He looked battered, but his aura was downright terrifying.

He looked like a lone wolf that had just crawled out of a slaughterhouse, dragging the stench of death right into their pristine boardroom.

"P-Pierce?!"

With a single, sweeping glance, the loudmouthed shareholders instantly fell dead silent, as if an invisible vice had clamped around their throats.

"Impossible... this is impossible!" Silas stumbled backward, completely horrified. "You're supposed to be..."

"Supposed to be what?" Pierce smirked coldly, slipping his hands into his pockets as he stalked toward Silas. "Were you going to say I'm supposed to be dead?"

Meeting Pierce's dead, icy stare as he closed the distance, Silas's legs gave out. He collapsed hard onto the floor.

Pierce looked down at him, his eyes shining with a chilling light that seemed to pierce right through the older man's soul. "Uncle Silas, you really thought you could assassinate me and steal the family empire. What a pity. You were just a pawn in my game."

Silas turned pale and stammered, "W-What are you talking about? I don't understand."

"Stop the act. Playing dumb now only makes you look pathetic," Pierce shook his head. He turned away and walked over to Phoenix, taking a seat beside her.

"Pierce, I'm handing this absolute mess back to you." Phoenix gave a light shrug. Her job was to stall, and since she had succeeded, she was ready to clock out.

"You did perfectly. Thank you," Pierce smiled, his gaze softening with blatant affection.

But when he turned back to the shareholders, his face instantly froze over into a mask of pure ice.

"Now... which of you were insulting my wife just now?"
