An absurd thought flashed through his mind.
It sounded crazy, but if Phoenix was somehow connected to *that* woman, her sudden transformation from a meek victim into a terrifying queen finally made perfect sense.
"Pierce, don't push yourself too hard."
Phoenix couldn't help but toss out a word of caution before they parted ways.
Pierce paused, then flashed a devastating smile. He didn't say a word, but his unwavering gaze said everything.
Back in the present.
Silas's mind was racing, frantically searching for a way out of this nightmare.
But after running through every scenario, the horrifying truth settled in: he was completely out of moves.
His only option was to rally the shareholders and pressure Phoenix out of the room.
"I demand to verify the authenticity of that contract!" Silas exchanged a loaded look with his loyalists before challenging her. "The Sterling Group is a massive empire. We don't just hand the throne to an outsider on a whim."
"I heavily suspect this document is a forgery."
Phoenix raised an eyebrow, a mocking smirk playing on her lips. She knew he would desperately attack the contract.
"Quentin, why don't you tell him if it's real or fake?"
The moment she spoke, Quentin walked through the conference room doors.
Silas and the shareholders stared at him in utter shock.
Quentin was Pierce's most trusted confidant. Just like Yancy, he was Pierce's right-hand man.
Whenever Pierce wasn't in the building, Quentin was his absolute proxy.
"Director Quentin, what brings you here?" Silas forced a strained smile, desperately trying to mask his rising panic.
Quentin ignored the pleasantries, adjusted his glasses, and addressed the room. "Gentlemen, I heard everything from the hallway. Since you doubt the contract's validity, I am here to clarify."
"Pierce signed this document in my presence. The entire process was recorded on video. If you don't believe my word, you can verify it yourselves."
He pulled out a USB drive, plugged it into his laptop, and projected the video onto the massive screen.
"This was recorded prior to the incident. See for yourselves."
When Pierce's face appeared on the screen, a collective shudder ran through the room. Even on a screen, his intimidating presence commanded absolute submission.
"I, Pierce Sterling, officially transfer all my shares to Phoenix Prescott. Should anything happen to me, she will use these shares to assume full control of the Sterling Group."
Hearing the recording, Phoenix's eyebrow twitched. She suddenly realized Pierce had set her up.
Sure, he used himself as bait to trap the sly old fox, but did he really need to endure getting half-drowned to do it?
