Pierce secured her firmly onto his back, using the cover of darkness to swiftly break through the perimeter.
He had already sent out the signal, and his forces, previously lying in wait, were now charging in from all sides.
Even knowing this was a meticulously laid trap, a few sacrifices were inevitable to tie down the enemy's main forces.
But where exactly was Nathan St. Claire?
Could that man... truly find him?
Meanwhile, at the Quincy estate.
Isabella Sinclair leaned lazily against the leather sofa, bored out of her mind as she admired her freshly done, crimson manicure.
Not far away, Quentin Quincy held a wine glass, leisurely swirling the blood-red vintage, a glint of anticipation in his deep gaze.
The heavy doors swung open, and Emmett Osborne strode in, bringing a gust of air with him.
Quentin's gaze shifted, instantly locking onto him. "What's the situation?"
"Mr. Quincy, the fish took the bait. This time, there's no way out for them." A malicious smirk spread across Emmett's face. "Furthermore, the Astraea Group and all the properties under Phoenix Prescott's name are currently undergoing our complete sweep. After tonight, they'll be nothing more than the laughingstock of all of Highcrest."
Quentin's narrow eyes practically vanished as he tilted his head back, downing the rest of the wine in his glass.
He licked his lips, still unsatisfied, a cruel smile curving his mouth. "We've let them act arrogant for days. It's about time they learned who truly rules Highcrest!"
"Your brilliance is unmatched, Mr. Quincy," Emmett fawned, eagerly matching his tone. "You feigned weakness on purpose, letting them grow overconfident, making them think they were on a winning streak, completely unaware that it was nothing but the bait you cast out."
"Now, they're digging their own graves."
"I told you from the start." Quentin slowly poured himself another glass, his tone laced with absolute certainty. "As long as that 'trump card' remains in our hands, we will never lose this game."
After all, it was the deadliest bait in the world.
Even if the enemy knew they were leaping into an abyss, they would jump without hesitation.
"Quentin, Phoenix can't just die so easily," Isabella suddenly interrupted, her narrow eyes flashing with a venomous chill. "I want to keep her chained up like a dog and torture her slowly."
