Chapter 224 One Last Night Of Peace
The sound of the ocean bleeding through the open balcony doors felt like a stolen luxury. Crashing waves. A cool breeze sweeping over the white linen sheets. For the first time in three years, the noise in my head stopped.
We left the capital behind. The coastal house sat on a cliff, isolated and fortified. A fortress masked as a retreat.
Tristan stood by the edge of the bed. He unbuckled his belt. The metallic clink sounded sharp in the quiet room. The moonlight caught the fading bruises on
is ribs and the shallow scrape across his shoulder. He bled for me. He dismantled an entire syndicate to keep me breathing.
‘Elias is asleep,” I said. My voice sounded rough.
Tristan discarded his shirt on the floor. He stepped closer. The shadows clung to the heavy muscle of his chest and arms. He looked down at me. The uthless corporate enforcer vanished, leaving only the man.
‘He asked Diego for a bedtime story about tactical formations, Tristan murmured. He knelt on the mattress. His weight shifted the bed.
He reached out. His fingers traced the line of my jaw. The touch sent a jolt of heat straight to my core. I leaned into his palm. I needed this. I needed to feel the solid, undeniable proof that he was alive.
I grabbed the waistband of his dark trousers. I pulled him down. He offered zero resistance.
He covered my body with his. His mouth found mine. The kiss started slow. A deep, lingering exploration. But the heat flared in a matter of seconds. The exhaustion of the boardroom and the terror of the hitmen burned away. I parted my lips, taking him in. He tasted like rain and salt.
I tangled my hands in his dark hair. I pulled. A rough groan vibrated deep in his throat. He shifted his weight, pressing his hips flush against mine. The heavy friction sent a spark through my veins.
He stripped away my clothes with impatient, calloused hands. I helped him discard the rest of his gear. Skin met skin. The chill of the coastal night vanished, replaced by a scorching, desperate heat.
He kissed a path down my neck. He bit the sensitive skin of my collarbone. A claim. A brand. I gasped. I arched my back, offering him more.
He slid his hands under my hips. He lifted me. He drove into me with a hard, relentless thrust. The air knocked out of my lungs. A shattered sound escaped my lips. He filled every empty space inside me, chasing away the cold void the Whitmore legacy left behind.

He set a punishing, demanding pace. I wrapped my legs around his waist, anchoring him to me. The friction built a tight coil of need deep in my stomach. Every thrust drove the ghosts further into the dirt. He pinned my wrists to the mattress. He stared down into my eyes. His gray eyes held a fierce, unyielding
devotion.
I dug my nails into his shoulders. I met his rhythm. The tension peaked, pulling tight until it snapped. I cried out his name. My body trembled as the wave
crashed over me, a blinding release of terror and triumph. He followed a heartbeat later. His chest heaved against mine. He buried his face in my neck, his breath hot against my skin.
He rolled over, taking me with him so I rested on top of his chest. He wrapped his massive arms around my waist. Our breathing slowed, matching the steady rhythm of the crashing waves outside.
*Julian is in a concrete box,” Tristan said. His hand stroked my bare back. “The board accepted your terms. The market stabilized. It is over, Mina.”
“It feels strange,” I admitted. I rested my chin on his chest. “I spent my entire life looking over my shoulder. I expect the next knife in the dark.

Throke all the knives,’ Tristan promised.
I believed him. The Chairman of the Johnston Group won the war. I survived my father. I survived his bastard son. I owned the empire.
I closed my eyes. The ocean lulled me into a deep, dreamless sleep.
The morning sun broke through the curtains, casting a warm golden light across the bedroom floor. I woke up alone in the bed. The sheets beside me were tangled and cold, but the scent of coffee drifted from the hallway.
I sat up. My muscles ached. A good ache. A reminder of the man who claimed me hours ago. I grabbed a silk robe from the chair, tying it around my waist. I
walked out of the master suite.
The coastal house featured an open floor plan. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered an unobstructed view of the cliffs and the dark, churning water below.
Elias sat at the kitchen island. He wore his pajamas. He pushed a toy armored transport across the marble counter. Diego stood near the front door. The
head of security kept a relaxed posture, but his eyes tracked the perimeter.
Tristan stood by the stove. He wore a simple gray t-shirt and dark jeans. He flipped a pancake in a cast-iron skillet. The sight felt surreal. The apex predator
of the corporate world cooking breakfast for his son.
“Good morning,” I said.
Tristan turned. A genuine smile transformed his face. He looked ten years younger. The weight of the empire no longer crushed his shoulders.
“Coffee is on the counter, Tristan said.
I walked over and poured myself a mug. The black liquid warmed my hands. I stood beside him. I leaned my head against his arm.
‘Did you sleep?” I asked.
“Four hours, Tristan replied. He slid the pancake onto a plate and set it in front of Elias. “More than enough. Diego verified the perimeter at dawn. Nothing
but seagulls and wind.”
I took a sip of my coffee. “Alexander?”
“The jet landed,’ Tristan confirmed. He kept his voice low so Elias would not overhear. “He is off the grid. He sent a single encipted ping. He is safe
AUTHOR’S NOTE
It’s me again, haha!
I know you all are probably getting tired of reading this and questioning when it’s finally going to end. I am so sorry that I’m expanding the story again but my SE advised me to do so, and I really had to take their advice to make sure the plot reaches its absolute full potential.
I promise you, this is the very last time I am going to add to or change this story. I hope you understand and stick with me for this final stretch!
If you need a little breather from all the heavy drama and are looking for something different to read in the meantime, you can try my other book, My Fake
