Chapter 263 EPILOGUE
He does not hesitate. He grabs my hips. He lifts me off the hardwood floor. I wrap my legs around his waist. He walks me backward until my spine hits the
edge of the mattress. We fall onto the bed.
He cages me with his heavy frame. He crashes his mouth against mine.
The kiss is raw. A bruising collision of teeth and heat. He claims my mouth with a demanding rhythm. i open my lips. I welcome the invasion. I tangle my fingers in his dark hair. I pull his head down. I want the friction. I want the pain. I want to feel the pulse of the man who burned the world for me.
He kisses a path down my neck. He bites the sensitive skin of my collarbone. A sharp sting. He marks his territory. He leaves a dark bruise on my flesh.
He pushes my knees apart. He enters me with a hard, relentless thrust.
I throw my head back against the pillows. I gasp. The impact drives the air from my lungs. The physical sensation shatters the lingering shadows in my mind. He fills the cold space. He anchors me to the mattress.
He sets a punishing pace. Skin meets skin. The harsh sound echoes over the crashing waves outside. He grips my hips. His large fingers dig into my flesh. He demands my complete surrender.
I match his rhythm. I arch my back. I meet every thrust. We do not make love. We fuck. We purge the terror of the federal hunt. We erase the memory of the Swiss chateau. We use each other to burn the past into dirt.
He stares down into my eyes. The storm in his gray gaze clears. A fierce, undivided worship replaces the chaos. He belongs to me. I belong to him.
I dig my nails into his broad shoulders. I draw blood. He does not flinch. He drives deeper. The coil in my stomach tightens. The tension climbs to a breaking point. A blinding wave of heat crashes through my veins. I shatter. I scream his name. My body trembles under his weight.
He shudders a heartbeat later. A rough groan tears from his throat. He finishes. His chest heaves against mine. He collapses onto the mattress beside me. He pulls me flush against his side. He wraps his heavy arm around my waist.
We lie in the dark. The sweat cools on our skin. The frantic beat of my heart levels out. The storm passes. We sleep.
The morning sun breaks through the curtains. The golden light warms the room.
I wake up alone in the bed. I smell fresh coffee.
I put on a silk robe. I walk into the kitchen.
Tristan sits at the marble island. He holds a digital tablet. He reads a financial report. He wears a gray t-shirt and dark jeans. He looks rested. He looks lethal.
“The market opened an hour ago,” Tristan says. He does not look up from the screen. ‘Johnston Group shares are up twelve percent. The investors celebrate the return of the Chairman.”
I pour a mug of black coffee. I lean against the counter.
