Chapter 259 He Pulled A Hidden Gun

“Page four of the manifest,” I say read from the top sheet October fourth. A wire transfer of two million dollars. Sent from Thomas Whitmore’s Cyprus account. Received by a blind trust in Zurich. The beneficiary of that trust is Federal Prosecutor Sterling

“Lies!” Sterling yells.

“Page twelve, I continue. I raise my voice over his protests. “Marck seventeenth. Five million dollars. Wired to the same Zurich trust. Page twenty-nine. Another three million. For a decade, Thomas Whitmore funded your rise through the Department of Justice. He bought your loyalty. He bought your silence.

The cameras capture Sterling’s face. He looks trapped. He looks like a man falling from a great height.

“When I placed Thomas Whitmore in a federal prison, the payments stopped, I explain to the silent chamber. Prosecutor Sterling lost his primary revenue stream. He needed a new source of income. He needed the Johnston billions. He formed an alliance with Julian Whitmore. Julian provided the fake digital

evidence to frame me. Sterling provided the badge to freeze my accounts.”

“She is a terrorist!” Sterling screams at the bench. He sounds desperate. He sounds broken. “Do not listen to her! Marshal, arrest her!”

The federal marshals look at the Committee Chairman. They wait for a command. The Chairman holds up his hand. He signals the guards to stay back.

“Ms. Hayes, the Chairman says. He reviews the digital files on his monitor. “These transfers are substantial. But a ledger requires verification.”

“The verification sits in this room,” I state.

I turn my gaze to Senator Vance. The politician shrinks in his leather chair.

“Senator Vance,” I call his name. The microphone catches my voice. “You possess a secret offshore account in the Cayman Islands. A safety net built on bribes. You helped Sterling suppress federal investigations into the Whitmore estate.”

Vance shakes his head. He tries to form a word. His throat fails him.

“Last night, your Cayman account held eighty million dollars,’ I say. I offer zero mercy. I drop the guillotine. “This morning, your account holds zero. I know this because my team drained it. I drained the accounts of SEC Director Miller. I drained the accounts of Judge Harrison.”

Vance gasps. He covers his mouth with his hand. He confirms my statement without saying single word. His reaction provides the necessary proof.

The press gallery catches the exchange. The reporters realize the magnitude of the scandal. The federal prosecutor did not justfame a CEO. He corrupted

the entire judicial system.

“You stole the money,” Sterling snarls. He glares at me. Hatred burns in his dark eyes. “You admit to a cyber-heist on the Senate floor.”

‘I seized criminal assets,” I reply. I throw his own words back in his face. I disabled a corrupt political machine. You cannot hide behind your bought judges
