Yet this supposed Fairchild heiress was claiming she hated her parents while aggressively refusing to return to the family...
It was incredibly suspicious.
"But wait..."
Nora suddenly thought of something. "If she really is a fake, wouldn't all those people in the Fairchild family notice? And they definitely must have done a DNA test... How do you explain that?"
Hudson smiled. "Either love blinds people, or someone tampered with the results. Which one do you choose?"
Nora finally understood. "So, you deliberately hinted at this to Gavin..."
It was all to indirectly fan the flames and get Gavin to investigate.
And if the fire got out of control, it would never burn Hudson.
His mind...
It was terrifyingly brilliant.
Hudson felt a rush of warmth under her admiring gaze. He tapped her nose again. "Alright, stop worrying about other people's family drama. Your husband is hungry. Come eat breakfast with me first."
The dining table was laden with a lavish spread of eggs benedict, freshly baked pastries, and seasonal fruit. The moment Nora sat down, Hudson fed her a bite, and she obediently focused on her meal, temporarily pushing the intricate webs of conspiracy out of her mind.
After breakfast, Olive drove Nora to Star Entertainment.
As soon as Nora stepped into her office, before she could even take off her coat, the door burst open.
"Ms. Reed! I heard about that piece of trash, River Sterling! He's actually a Lancaster? Son of a bitch, he was playing an undercover spy right under our noses!"
Nora let out a soft laugh but didn't say much.
Leo Hamilton, however, was so furious he paced laps around the office. "That bastard acted so polite all the time! He used to call you Auntie Nora so sweetly, and look what he was doing behind our backs! If he ever shows his face around me again, I'll beat his teeth in!"
Seeing him acting like an angry cat with its fur puffed up, Nora couldn't help but smile. She ignored his rant and asked, "Why are you here so early today? Your brother is back in town. Aren't you going to see him?"
Leo froze in his tracks, blinking. "Huh? My eldest brother is back? When did that happen?"
Seeing how completely oblivious he was, Nora realized that Gavin must have come straight to the Cloudwater Estate from the airport without even stopping at home.
"Ms. Reed, I need to take some leave..."
Nora nodded. "It's almost the New Year, so there shouldn't be much going on here anyway. Just go talk to HR to get your time off approved. Also, coordinate with your agent to shoot a few holiday greeting videos. We need to keep your momentum going."
"You got it! No problem!"
Leo agreed instantly. Before he even finished his sentence, he ripped open the office door and vanished down the hallway like a gust of wind.
Nora shook her head with a smile, watching his chaotic departure.
The office returned to silence.
