Just then, Finnian stepped out of the elevator, dragging his suitcase behind him. Despite his hurried pace, he quickly greeted Professor Campbell.
"Director Campbell..."
Professor Campbell offered a stiff, aloof nod, clearly not in the mood for pleasantries.
Finnian didn't seem to mind. He glanced at Hudson and Jude. "Alright, I'll leave you to it. I have an emergency to handle, so I'm heading out..."
"Safe travels, Finnian."
Finnian offered Hudson a brief nod before rushing off with his luggage.
Professor Campbell frowned as he watched Finnian hurry away. Usually, the kid would bend over backward trying to kiss up to him, hoping to squeeze his way into the R&D team. Today...
His behavior was decidedly out of character.
"What's wrong with him?"
Jude stood to the side, hesitating for a moment. "Mr. Fairchild just called. He said... they found Evangeline."
Professor Campbell whipped his head around to stare at him, looking completely stunned. "Who?"
"Evangeline. The missing Fairchild heiress."
Professor Campbell stood frozen, as if he had been turned to stone.
It took several seconds before he finally spoke, his voice much lower than before. "Then... what about Sylvia?"
Jude shook his head. "There's still no news about Sylvia Vaughn."
Professor Campbell's eyes flickered slightly, but he didn't say anything else. He remained silent for a few seconds before standing up from the sofa.
"Book me a ticket. I'm going to Northampton right now." His voice was steady, but Jude could hear the immense effort it took to suppress his emotions.
Jude didn't ask questions. He nodded and immediately pulled out his phone to make the arrangements.
Professor Campbell had already turned toward the door. Halfway there, he stopped and looked back at Hudson. "Handle your private affairs quickly. Once you're done, fly to Northampton. You must attend tomorrow afternoon's meeting. They're waiting for you to lead the project, understood?"
Hudson smiled and nodded. "Understood..."
After watching Jude and Professor Campbell leave, Hudson returned to his room.
Since he had officially 'asked for a divorce' that morning, he and Nora were now 'separated.'
Nora's room was right next to his, separated by a single wall.
However, the balconies of the two rooms were adjacent, with a gap of barely a foot and a half between them.
