Hudson looked down at her. He rested his chin on the top of her head, wrapping his arms securely around her, using his large coat to shield her completely from the freezing wind and snow.
The snowflakes fell steadily, accumulating a thin layer of white over their dark clothes.
The world around them seemed to quiet down, leaving only the shadow of the two of them embracing.
The snow fell heavier. Nora tilted her head back, a single unmelted snowflake resting on her eyelashes.
She looked up at him, flashed a brilliant smile, then went up on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against his.
Hudson froze for a second before taking absolute control. He cupped the back of her neck and kissed her back with a fierce intensity.
It wasn't overly aggressive, but it was incredibly deep and passionate, his lips moving against hers as if trying to swallow all the chill and warmth of this very moment.
They kissed in the snow, the flakes landing on their intertwined eyelashes and lips, melting instantly. It was impossible to tell what was freezing cold and what was burning hot.
After a long time, he finally pulled back slightly, resting his forehead against hers as they shared the same breath.
"They say if you watch the first snow with someone, you'll grow old together," Nora whispered breathlessly, her eyes bright and filled with emotion.
Hudson didn't say a word. He just lowered his head and pressed a tender kiss into her damp hair.
"Let's go back inside."
Hudson took her hand and led her to their hotel suite.
The second he pushed the door open, before Nora could even step fully inside, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her backward.
The door slammed shut with a loud bang, and she found herself pinned against the entryway wall. Hudson quickly slid a hand behind her back to protect her from the cold, hard surface, and his lips crashed down onto hers.
This kiss was vastly different from the tender one in the snow. It was heavy, dominant, and fueled by raw possession, like he had been holding back the entire walk up.
His tongue invaded her mouth, exploring and taking with absolute authority.
Nora could barely keep up. Her fingers unconsciously gripped his coat lapels, her knuckles turning white as she practically melted against him.
His breathing was heavy, his kisses demanding, his tongue twisting and tangling with hers so fiercely that she tried to shrink back. But he simply tightened his grip on the nape of her neck, pulling her back and kissing her even deeper.
Just as Nora felt she might pass out from the lack of oxygen, Hudson finally pulled back a fraction of an inch. Their foreheads rested together, his Adam's apple bobbing. "Honey, have a baby with me."
In the past, he had always claimed he didn't like kids—that they were too loud and too much trouble.
But the truth was, he had been terrified he wouldn't live long enough to give her a future.
Now that the poison that had plagued him for years was finally about to be cured, his fears were gone.
It was time for them to have a child—a child who shared both of their blood...
Nora looked up at him, her eyes misty and filled with adoration. Without a word, she went up on her toes and captured his lips again, giving him her answer in the most passionate way possible.
...
It was a night of unbridled madness.
The snow fell silently outside, burying all of Northampton in a blanket of white.
By the time they woke up the next day, the storm had passed.
