Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 535

At Liam's announcement, Olive instantly threw her arms around Bane's neck, aggressively rubbing his head. "Damn, Bane! You work fast!"

Arthur and Archer both grinned widely.

They had watched Bane grow up. Ever since his mother, Scrappy, passed away, Bane had been the only one left.

Now, he was going to be a father!

Nora smiled brightly as she rubbed Luna's round little head. Seeing this, Bane immediately dropped down and nudged her leg, demanding equal attention.

She remembered Liam mentioning that Luna was brought in to mate with Bane, but she hadn't expected it to happen so fast. She must have been pregnant for a while, and it was just now starting to show.

While everyone was celebrating, Liam sidled up to Nora, looking like he wanted to say something but didn't know how.

"Dr. Harrison, is something wrong?"

Liam had returned to San Francisco the day before. Since Hudson was fine and didn't need him at the moment, he had come back early.

It was just...

"I heard from the staff that while you guys were in Chicago, your mother came to the Cloudwater Estate almost every day to look for you. When she couldn't find you, she would just wait by the gates..."

"I told her to call you, but she said you blocked her. She honestly looked pitiful. She's lost a ton of weight, and there are bruises all over her face—I have no idea who hit her. I also heard Marcus Reed divorced her and kicked her out with nothing... I just figured, she's still your biological mother, and I was worried you might regret it later..."

"Liam."

Before he could finish, a chillingly cold voice sliced through the air.

Liam froze, blinking in confusion before looking over at Hudson. "Mr. Lancaster..."

"If your heart is bleeding that much, go handle it yourself. If you want to take her home and call her Mom, no one is stopping you," Hudson said smoothly, but his dark eyes were laced with pure ice.

A shiver shot down Liam's spine as he finally realized he had severely overstepped.

He had heard the rumors about Penelope constantly favoring her stepdaughter and mistreating Nora.

It was just that when he saw Penelope yesterday, she looked so incredibly pathetic that he couldn't help but say something to Nora...

"I'm sorry, Mr. Lancaster. I was wrong."

Hudson stared at him expressionlessly.

Realizing his mistake, Liam quickly turned to Nora. "I apologize, Madam. That was out of line..."

"What are you doing?" Nora shot Hudson a scolding look. "Dr. Harrison was just passing along a message. He's our guest. Why are you glaring at him?"

Hudson let out a cold scoff—He is no guest.

It seemed Liam had played his role as a doctor a little too well lately and forgotten his place!

Standing on the porch, Olive and Archer exchanged a gleeful look, instantly whipping out their phones to follow them and document the event.

This was the first time Liam was getting punished. They absolutely had to record it in HD for future blackmail!

...

Later that night.

Nora stood under the showerhead, letting the hot water cascade over her head and run down the curve of her shoulders, washing away the exhaustion of the day.

The bathroom was thick with steam. A thin layer of condensation gathered on the glass partition, blurring her slender silhouette in the mirror.

She stood with her eyes closed for a while, the heat turning her skin a soft, rosy pink. She looked like a flower drenched in morning dew, totally relaxed and at peace.

She turned off the water, wrapped a towel around herself, and dried her hair before stepping out in her slippers.

Hudson had already showered. He was leaning against the headboard, scrolling through his phone. Hearing her approach, he looked up, his gaze lingering on her curves for a second as his Adam's apple bobbed.

Nora climbed into bed, naturally nestling into his arms. "It really happened so fast. Bane is going to be a dad..."

Hudson didn't reply. He tossed his phone onto the nightstand and reached over to turn off the lamp.

Nora tilted her head up. Her eyes were bright and slightly red from the steam, and her voice was a little softer than usual. "Hudson, why do you think nothing has happened for me yet?"
