That idiot!
"You told them you were my girlfriend?" Finnian locked eyes with Sienna, a faint, wry smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Didn't we break up?"
Sienna's eyes widened. She could hardly believe what she was hearing.
At a time like this, this absolute bastard had the nerve to bring that up?
Seeing the bodyguards file out of the cabin, Slim realized his opening had arrived.
He immediately shot a subtle look at his men.
One of the lackeys charged at Finnian, swinging a heavy iron pipe.
Before the man could even get close, Finnian snatched his wrist out of the air. With a brutal twist, the sharp crack of dislocating bone echoed through the room. The thug let out a bloodcurdling scream, dropping the pipe.
Finnian caught the falling pipe and swung it back in a deadly arc, slamming it straight into the second man's shoulder. With a muffled groan, the thug buckled toward the floor.
The third man lunged from the side. Finnian easily sidestepped the wild punch, driving his knee directly into the man's gut.
The thug doubled over, stumbling back two steps before collapsing to his knees, his face ashen.
In less than ten seconds, three men were writhing on the ground, completely incapacitated.
"Let her go, and I'll let you live," Finnian warned, his grip tight on the iron pipe as he stalked slowly toward Slim.
Slim swallowed hard, but out of the corner of his eye, he spotted one of his guys creeping up silently from the side, a crowbar raised high over Finnian's head...
"Finnian! Watch out!"
Finnian didn't even glance back. As if he had eyes in the back of his head, he pivoted just before the blow landed. The crowbar narrowly missed his shoulder. In one fluid motion, he seized the man's wrist, twisting and yanking it forward. The sickening snap of dislocated joints cut sharply through the quiet cabin. The crowbar hit the deck, and Finnian delivered a brutal kick to the back of the man's knee, sending him crashing to the floor, permanently out of the fight.
He didn't look at her.
With his head bowed, he braced one hand against the deck. His jaw was clenched, but his spine remained perfectly straight.
"Thought you were a badass, huh?" the thug sneered, delivering a brutal kick to his ribs. "Fight back! Come on!"
Emboldened, the rest of the thugs swarmed him, reigning down blows onto his back with their iron pipes.
The hollow thuds of steel connecting with muscle and bone filled the cabin, each strike making Sienna's chest tighten in unbearable agony.
She watched as his back finally bowed under the relentless assault, but he refused to stay down, bracing his hands against the floor to force himself back upright.
You idiot... fight back...
"Aw, does that break your heart?" Slim chuckled maliciously, pointing the gun at Finnian before gesturing to the deck. "Thought you were invincible? Kiss the floor!"
