A tall, imposing figure stood in the doorway, backed by over a dozen bodyguards in identical dark suits. The sheer, dominant presence of the group was overwhelming.
Slim's face immediately drained of color.
Operating purely on instinct, he took a step back, grabbing a fistful of Sienna's hair to haul her out of the chair. With his free hand, he drew the pistol from his waistband, pressing the cold steel barrel tight against her temple.
"Don't come any closer!" Slim's voice trembled, but his finger hovered dangerously over the trigger. "Take one more step, and I'll blow her brains out!"
The agonizing pull on her scalp brought tears to Sienna's eyes, but she didn't make a sound. She simply lifted her gaze to the man at the door.
Finnian stood where the harsh light met the shadows, backlit so severely that his expression was unreadable.
His eyes swept over Sienna's face, tracking from her eyes to the brutal grip on her hair, and finally landing on the gun pressed to her skull. He stared at the weapon for two agonizing seconds before shifting his gaze to Slim.
"Put the gun down."
Slim furrowed his brow tightly. "Who the hell are you? Tell your men to back off, or I'll kill her right now!"
Finnian didn't move an inch. He just raised his right hand, keeping his index and middle fingers together, and gave a sharp, subtle flick backward.
In absolute unison, the suited bodyguards raised their weapons.
Over a dozen guns took aim squarely at Slim. The cold gleam of the dark barrels in the dim cabin and the sheer numerical superiority made the air in the room instantly freeze.
Slim's lips quivered, his grip on the pistol nearly slipping.
Despite the painful yank on her hair, Sienna didn't thrash or scream. She stood perfectly still, her eyes locked on Finnian.
She hadn't been afraid when they kidnapped her, hadn't been afraid when they gagged her, and hadn't even been afraid when those men surrounded her.
But in this moment, a lump formed thick and heavy in her throat.
Finnian refused to look at her.
His eyes remained fixed on Slim's terror-twisted face. "Think carefully before you pull that trigger. If she dies, every single one of you will follow her into the grave."
Slim's Adam's apple bobbed. "Who... who are you trying to bluff?"
Slim let out a dark sneer, immediately grabbing the collar of Sienna's shirt. "Tell your men to drop their weapons, or I'll strip her right here!"
Sienna fought wildly against him, but with her hands still pinned behind her back, there was absolutely no escape.
Finnian's lips pressed into a thin line before he ordered in a low, gravelly voice, "Everyone out."
Sienna froze, staring at him in utter disbelief. "Are you out of your mind?!"
His strategy had been perfect!
As long as he acted indifferent to her fate, these thugs would break first.
But now he was sending all his security away?!
What the hell was he trying to do?!
Die right alongside her?
