Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 472

Nora paused, slightly taken aback.

Back then, they had still been bound by their contract and had only known each other for a few days. Why would he have fired Harrison just for her?

Then again, she had technically been Mrs. Lancaster. Someone challenging his wife's authority was something a man like him wouldn't tolerate.

Deciding not to dwell on the past, she brushed the thought aside.

"Do you have anything else on your schedule this afternoon? Want to play hooky?"

"Why?"

"Archer bought a new grill. I thought we could head back to Cloudwater Estate for a barbecue. How does that sound?"

The mere mention of a barbecue made Nora's mouth water. Since she didn't have any pressing deadlines, skipping work sounded perfect.

Life was all about enjoying the moment, after all!

"Sounds great."

A faint smile touched Hudson's lips as he led her out. They walked through the corridors at a leisurely pace, their hands firmly intertwined.

Through the glass walls of the surrounding offices, countless pairs of eyes tracked their every move.

Nora didn't falter, and Hudson couldn't care less about the stares.

Hand in hand, they openly stepped into the elevator.

The second the metal doors sealed shut, the entire floor exploded into chaos.

"Holy shit!!!"

Someone screamed it first, and then the whispers surged like a tidal wave.

"Did I hallucinate that? Director Reed and Mr. Lancaster..."

"What do you mean Director Reed? That's the boss's wife!"

"So who the hell started those ridiculous rumors?"

"Wait... The Lady of Star Entertainment has been sitting right under our noses this whole time?!"

"This is insane! I think I'm having a heart attack!"

Meanwhile, inside the descending elevator, the heavy doors completely isolated them from the uproar.

The moment the tires braked, Archer rushed out to meet them.

Olive kicked her door open and hopped out, slamming it shut behind her.

Arthur visibly twitched at the harsh impact.

Archer smoothly opened the rear door. Once Hudson and Nora stepped out, he lowered his voice. "Mr. Lancaster, Madam. Marcus and Penelope Reed are here. They've been waiting in the living room for a while..."

Hudson frowned. "Why didn't they call first?"

Before Archer could answer, Nora replied with chilling indifference, "They couldn't get through. I blocked their numbers."

Hudson paused, then an approving smirk curved his lips. He took her hand and led her toward the house.

"Then I'll walk you in."

Inside the living room, Marcus and Penelope Reed sat stiffly on the sofa, their untouched tea growing cold on the table.

Hearing the approaching footsteps, they shot up in unison.

Penelope immediately took a step forward, plastering a desperate, ingratiating smile on her face. "Nora, you're home..."
