Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 455

Miles away, Edmond was sitting in a tense boardroom meeting, a stack of contracts spread out before him. His brow was furrowed in concentration.

At those words, his hand froze. His fountain pen bled a dark stain of ink onto the paperwork.

"What did you just say?"

"Nora!" his friend laughed through the speaker. "I just saw her right here in Northampton! You sure kept your mouth shut about it. Still trying to hide her from us?"

Edmond's grip on his phone tightened until his knuckles went white.

"Where exactly did you say you saw her?"

The man finally picked up on the deadly seriousness in Edmond's tone. His obnoxious grin faded, replaced by an awkward chuckle. "At the... Northampton Convention Center. Right by the architectural exhibition entrance. I was literally just talking to her... Edmond, don't tell me you actually haven't won her back yet?"

Edmond didn't answer.

"Text me the exact address."

"Uh, yeah. Sure. Sending it now."

The line went dead.

Edmond stood up so abruptly that the entire room of Sterling Group executives flinched, terrified to breathe.

For the past while, the company had been forcing all senior management to fly out to San Francisco for these strategy meetings. It was a logistical nightmare, not to mention astronomically expensive.

Between flights and luxury accommodations, it was a massive drain on resources.

But Edmond was the General Manager, and nobody dared challenge his obsessive demands.

"Edmond?"

Ferris leaned over, immediately noticing his chaotic state. "What happened?"

Edmond shot a dark look at his deputy manager. "You're taking over. I have somewhere to be."

Without waiting for a single word of protest, he stormed out of the boardroom.

Ferris grimaced at the bewildered executives, muttered a quick apology, and bolted after him.

"That fast?" She was genuinely surprised. "I thought you were stuck in Northampton for a few days."

He chuckled softly. "Why? Don't want to leave? We can stay longer. I'll take you out, show you the sights..."

She smiled. "I can't. I only took two days off. I'm due back tomorrow."

"Then request an extension." His tone was casual but carried an undeniable arrogance. "Who's going to deny my wife time off?"

She rolled her eyes, thoroughly amused. "Not all of us run empires, Hudson. I actually have a job to report to."

"I own Star Entertainment too." Hudson paused, his voice dropping an octave, slipping into something dangerously seductive. "Honey, you own the place."

Heat crept up her neck. Scrambling to change the subject, she laughed. "Okay, okay, I'm hanging up now. Sienna's waiting for me."

"Alright," he murmured, though he didn't end the call.

The line fell silent for a long moment, filled only by the steady sound of his breathing.

"What is it?" Nora asked softly.
