Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 454

"Exactly. They've searched for decades and found nothing. Honestly, she's probably dead."

Listening to the gossip, Nora kept her eyes on Matriarch Fairchild.

The Fairchild family was a powerhouse, a four-generation legacy of academic brilliance married to corporate dominance.

Their wealth and political influence spread like the roots of an ancient oak, completely interwoven into the city's fabric.

She recalled the rumors that always surrounded the family.

The Fairchilds were plagued with an overabundance of sons, making their sole daughter, Evangeline, the absolute center of their universe.

They had spoiled her rotten.

If she had demanded the moon, they would have found a way to pull it out of the sky.

But that precious little girl vanished without a trace at just two years old...

Heartbroken, the Dowager eventually adopted Liana to fill the void.

Watching Liana play the part of the devoted granddaughter, an absurd thought crossed Nora's mind—

If the real Evangeline Fairchild were somehow found today, what would happen?

She would undoubtedly have the world at her feet.

The entire Fairchild empire would be forced to bow down to her.

Her wandering thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of her phone.

Glancing at the screen, a soft smile instantly touched her lips.

It was Hudson.

"Sienna, I need to take this..."

Sienna laughed, instantly catching on. "Your man calling to check in? You've barely been apart for a few hours. He should just superglue himself to you at this point."

Nora flushed bright red, shooting her friend a playful glare before stepping away to find a quiet spot outside the hall.

Edmond?

Her brow furrowed deeper.

She finally managed to place him.

He was one of Edmond's socialites. She had no idea what his name was, only remembering him from a couple of high-profile parties. They had exchanged polite nods at most and never shared a real conversation.

"You have the wrong person," she said flatly, turning to leave.

"No way." The man had already pulled out his phone and hit dial. He winked at her. "Don't go yet. Edmond's about to pick up. Say hi."

Refusing to entertain the nonsense, Nora inhaled sharply, spun on her heel, and stalked away.

Behind her, she could hear the man's obnoxiously loud laughter.

"Edmond! You sly bastard! You already won her back?"
