The conversation in the living room became crystal clear.
"I'm telling you, Hudson, that Jade girl is bad news. Everyone in our circle knows exactly what she's like. Don't let her ruin you..."
Nora froze in her tracks.
Were they... talking about her?
She pressed her lips together and continued walking down the stairs.
The view of the living room gradually opened up.
Sitting opposite Hudson was a tall man in a burgundy suit, possessing striking, almost overly handsome features and incredibly expressive eyes.
"Why on earth would you marry a woman like that? Because she's ugly? Because she's stupid? Or because she's got a trash personality?"
As Grant kept running his mouth, Hudson, who had been completely ignoring him, seemed to catch a sound. He turned his head, his gaze locking directly onto the staircase.
Grant's voice hitched, and he immediately followed Hudson's line of sight. For a moment, he was left absolutely speechless.
A woman was standing on the steps.
She was dressed in the simplest outfit imaginable, but her stunning curves and luminous skin made her look utterly ethereal.
In his twenty-eight years, what kind of beauty hadn't he seen?
He'd mingled with the so-called goddesses of the entertainment industry—even bedded a few of them.
But the woman standing before him...
She was different.
It was an impossible difference to describe.
It wasn't just about flawless features or a perfect body.
It was her aura.
Pure.
As pure as a pristine mountain spring—crystal clear, yet impossibly deep.
Her eyes were especially captivating. They were bright and clear, tilting up naturally at the corners. When she looked at someone, there was an effortless, unintentional seduction in her gaze, yet her expression remained perfectly innocent.
Innocence and allure blended flawlessly within her.
He stared unabashedly at the woman holding Hudson's hand, his eyes tracking her every move.
Hudson guided Nora to sit on the sofa and pushed a warm glass of milk toward her.
"Have a drink first. Breakfast will be ready in a minute."
She obediently held the glass, taking tiny sips.
When she glanced up, she met Grant's intense stare head-on.
"..."
"Are you done staring?" Hudson frowned, his voice dripping with annoyance.
Grant finally snapped out of his daze. Flashing a wicked grin, he leaned back lazily.
"You're being awfully stingy, Hudson," he teased, raising an eyebrow. "Hiding such a stunner all to yourself and keeping your own friends in the dark?"
Hudson ignored him, taking Nora's empty glass and setting it casually on the coffee table.
Grant wasn't offended. A smug smirk curled his lips. "When you mentioned someone 'gentle, beautiful, and affectionate' last time, were you talking about her? Where is that ugly Jade anyway? Did you kick her out?"
