Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 386

Ginger stared at the unmoving dot, her ears ringing as if someone had just struck her over the head with a bat.

"Impossible... You definitely made a mistake... Check it again..."

"In these situations, we usually recommend a follow-up test to confirm," the doctor said, her tone softening. "We can do a chorionic villus sampling or an amniocentesis. The results will be definitive."

Ginger grabbed the doctor's arm frantically. "Do it! Do it right now! Set it up immediately!"

The doctor nodded. "Alright, I'll write the order."

Just then, heavy footsteps echoed from the hallway outside.

Ginger's grip tightened on the doctor's arm, her voice dropping to a desperate whisper. "Doctor, I'm begging you. My husband doesn't know yet. Please, don't tell him until the results come back."

The doctor frowned. "But..."

Tears sprang to Ginger's eyes. "I'm begging you! I just want to be absolutely sure. What if you were wrong? I don't want to cause him unnecessary panic."

After a moment of hesitation, the doctor finally nodded.

The door pushed open, and Silas strode in. "All done?"

Ginger forced a bright smile. "Yes. The doctor said the baby is doing great, but she recommended one more test just to be one hundred percent sure."

Silas's posture relaxed. "Then do it."

Half an hour later, the amniocentesis was finished.

However, the results wouldn't be ready until the next day.

Silas supported Ginger as they walked out of the hospital. "Is the baby really okay?"

"Of course. What could possibly be wrong?"

"That's good."

Ginger lowered her eyes, masking the sheer, suffocating panic swirling within them.

...

He completely dropped the tough-guy act.

"Liam Harrison brought her over this morning to breed with Bane."

Nora looked at the smaller dog again.

She was sitting a few feet away, staring longingly in their direction. She gave a cautious little tail wag but didn't dare approach.

"She's pretty cute." Nora waved at the dog. "Come here."

The new dog perked up, her ears standing straight up, and took two tentative steps forward.

Bane let out a sharp bark.

The smaller dog immediately retreated.

Nora laughed, reaching down to aggressively pet Bane's head.

"If you keep acting this mean, you're never going to get a girlfriend."
