"Goodbye, Lawr—"
He hung up before she could even finish.
Ginger pressed her lips into a thin line, cursing the twisted Black Sheep under her breath, and tossed her phone back into her purse.
She leaned back and closed her eyes.
Whatever was on that drive didn't matter. Her part was done.
The rest of the bloodshed was Lawrence's problem.
All she needed to do was protect her pregnancy, wait for her son to be born, and eventually, watch him inherit the entire Lancaster empire.
...
Meanwhile, in the Music Director's office.
Nora had just finished reviewing a file when her phone started vibrating.
It was a video call from Hudson.
She swiped to answer immediately, and Hudson's face filled the screen.
He looked like he had just stepped off the plane. He was walking through a brightly lit VIP terminal, the harsh lighting casting striking shadows across his sharp, handsome features.
The camera bobbed slightly as he strode through the concourse, holding the phone up to his face.
"You made it?"
"Yeah, just landed."
"Are you exhausted?"
"I'm alright."
He paused, his gaze locking onto her through the screen, a lazy smile touching his lips. "Did you miss me?"
Nora's cheeks flushed, and she looked away. "You haven't even been gone a day."
"Six hours and fourteen minutes."
"..."
"I miss you."
The words drifted through the speaker, low, tender, and so incredibly rough that it felt as if he had whispered them directly against her skin.
Nora's grip on her phone tightened. Her ears burned, her heart thumping wildly against her ribs as her breath caught in her throat.
"Just... focus on work, and come back soon."
"Okay."
"Alright. I have some business to handle here. Go back to work. I'll call you tonight."
"Okay."
The moment the call ended, whatever lingering warmth had been on Hudson's face vanished, replaced by a cold, murderous fury.
Without hesitating, he dialed another number.
It rang twice before it was picked up.
"Boss—"
"Arthur!"
The name ripped from his throat, a venomous snarl ground out between clenched teeth. He didn't yell, but the sheer, lethal rage rolling off him could be felt from a thousand miles away.
Arthur's heart dropped, his entire body locking up in terror.
"What were my exact orders before I left?"
A heavy pause hung on the line before Arthur spoke, his tone grim. "Boss, what happened?"
"Ginger went to the office and met with Nora. Where the hell is Olive? I ordered her not to let Nora out of her sight!"
