Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 200

Penelope and Marcus exchanged another glance.

Now, they were both completely bewildered.

He didn't sponge off her wealth, and he didn't take advantage of her physically either.

His behavior really didn't match the typical broke losers who preyed on wealthy heiresses.

It was just that the man named Archer—if he was really the Duke's son, why did he use such an incredibly ordinary name?

Archer.

That name sounded like some random guy from the countryside. It didn't sound remotely connected to British royalty.

But if he was a scammer, he didn't steal her money or take her to bed. So what exactly was his angle?

Marcus stayed quiet for a moment. "Did you ask him who he was supposed to marry?"

Jade's tears started falling again. "I did. He said he had no idea, that it was all arranged by his family. Dad, I need to go to the UK and find him. I can't just let us end like this..."

Marcus frowned. "Go where? He already told you he has an arranged marriage. Why are you throwing yourself at him?"

Jade grew frantic. "He just can't disobey his family's orders! It doesn't mean he doesn't love me anymore!"

"Then wait. Wait for him to sort out his mess first."

Jade stomped her foot. "I can't wait! What if he actually marries someone else? I need to go snatch him back!"

Marcus was getting a headache from all her screaming. He rubbed his temples. "Just stay home for a few days and calm down."

"No! I'm booking a flight right now! I'm going to find him!"

Marcus's voice dropped dangerously. "Jade! Have you lost your mind?"

Jade flinched at the shout, then began crying even louder. "Dad, you yelled at me... I just went through a breakup, and you're screaming at me..."

Penelope quickly swooped in to defuse the situation. "Alright, alright, your dad isn't yelling at you. He's just worried. Stay home for a few days and keep us company. We haven't seen you in forever, and we missed you terribly."

Jade hiccuped with a sob and stayed quiet.

Ever since news of the Lancaster and Reed family union broke, the Reed family's status in San Francisco had skyrocketed. The prestigious families who used to look down on them were now lining up to curry favor.

Marcus picked up the invitation on top, flipping it open with a slow, calculating smile.

He needed to seize this opportunity and play the Lancaster card for all it was worth to elevate his own family's power.

...

Meanwhile, back at the Cloudwater Estate, Nora was gripping the handrail as she sluggishly descended the stairs.

She had expected the exact same bone-deep ache as before, but surprisingly, she felt absolutely nothing this time.

It seemed the ointment Hudson had procured was actually quite effective. It was just the application process...

That made her want to die of embarrassment...

That man had dipped his fingers into the ointment and completely deadpanned that he needed to massage it deeply for the best results, only for the massage to turn into...
