Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 160

Hudson raised his eyes and looked at him.

It was a flat, emotionless stare, but it instantly told Arthur everything he needed to know.

"Right. I spoke out of turn."

...

Meanwhile, Nora was pacing frantically, her face pale with anxiety, her mind a complete mess.

"Mrs. Lancaster."

A maid's voice came from behind, making her jump.

"What is it?"

"Miss Tiffany is here. She's at the door."

Tiffany?

Nora paused, realizing it was Tiffany Lancaster.

She quickly wiped her face, took a deep breath, and said, "Let her in."

The maid hurried off.

A moment later, Tiffany walked in, her stilettos clicking sharply on the floor.

She was wearing a black dress made of incredibly heavy, luxurious silk. The hem stopped right at her knees, showing off straight, slender legs.

Her long hair fell over her shoulders, her makeup was flawless, and her lips were painted a fiery red. She radiated an aggressive, sharp beauty.

Her gaze swept the living room before finally landing on Nora, full of scrutiny and disdain.

"Where's my brother?" she demanded, her voice icy.

Nora pressed her lips together. "He's not coming home tonight. Did you need him for something?"

Tiffany frowned slightly, a cold smirk touching the corners of her lips. "I came to see you."

Nora's heart skipped a beat.

Looking for her?

"Have a seat." Nora gestured to the sofa, trying her hardest to keep her voice steady.

Tiffany didn't sit.

"If you're done, you can show yourself out." Nora turned and walked toward the stairs. "I'll think about it over the next three days."

Tiffany stood frozen, watching her disappear around the staircase landing. Her face cycled through several shades of rage before she finally stomped her foot and stormed out.

...

Nora returned to the bedroom, shut the door, leaned against it, and felt her fingers start to shake.

She couldn't just sit here and take the hit. She had to take control of the situation.

And the only person who could help her was Hudson.

Nora bit her lip and changed into a silk slip dress.

She turned on every light in the bedroom, pulled open several drawers, threw clothes carelessly onto the floor, messed up the pillows, and violently kicked the blankets into a heap, staging a chaotic, frantic break-in scene.

Once she was done, she took a deep breath, picked up her phone, and dialed Hudson's number.

It rang twice before he picked up.

"Hudson..."

Her voice was trembling, her breathing ragged, playing the part of a terrified victim perfectly. "Someone... someone broke into my room. All the drawers and closets have been trashed, it's a complete mess... I'm so scared. Can you please come home?"
