She stared at Eliza on the bed, looking at her pale face, so far removed from the dazzling lead dancer she used to be.
An indescribable rush of ecstatic thrill surged through Yvonne's chest.
"My dearest sister, you have no idea how many phone calls I had to make just to find out you were staying here."
"I am such a good sister. My heart just ached for you, so I made a special trip to see you."
"Have you been living in a living hell these past few days?"
Yvonne walked up to the bed, looking down at Eliza with a vicious smirk playing on her lips.
Eliza leaned half-propped against the headboard, staring coldly at Yvonne as if she were watching a pathetic clown.
Eliza's utter indifference ignited the dark, twisted need for validation in Yvonne's mind.
She suddenly leaned in close. "Eliza, do you know what I hate most about you in this life? It is that sickening perfection of yours! That arrogant, aloof attitude, as if you are above everything and everyone!"
Yvonne gritted her teeth.
"Why were you always the lead dancer of the company? Why did everyone praise your natural talent, calling you a once-in-a-century prodigy?"
"I worked hard too! I stayed in the studio until midnight every single day. Do you know how many blisters on my toes bled? Why was I doomed to forever be your understudy, your mere shadow!"
"As long as you were around, everyone's eyes, including Zander's, would never look at me!"
Yvonne's voice grew increasingly hysterical, her eyes glinting with pure madness.
"So, I had to destroy you!"
"I wanted to ruin your legs so you could never dance again! I wanted to destroy your career and watch you plummet from the clouds straight into the mud!"
"Oh, and your romance, too. Not to mention that little piece of flesh in your stomach!"
Yvonne threw her head back and laughed.
"Eliza, seeing you with absolutely nothing right now makes me so incredibly happy! You are destined to be trampled under my feet forever, never to rise again!"
This time, Eliza simply watched her with icy calm, letting her scream and rant.
