She cradled her stomach, reaching out in absolute despair, only to watch Zander carry an unharmed Yvonne toward the light without once looking back.

No matter how hard she cried or struggled, it did not earn her even a moment of his hesitation.

"Eliza, wake up! I am here. I am right here!"

A deep, gentle voice suddenly cut through the dark ruins like a beam of light.

Eliza's eyes snapped open, her gaze terrified and unfocused.

Julian was calling her name, his face etched with frantic worry.

"Another nightmare?" he asked softly, gently helping her sit up.

Ever since Eliza had been admitted, Julian had canceled all his schedules and moved his office to the floor directly above her suite.

He just wanted to stay by her side, unwilling to leave for even a second.

"Do not be afraid. It is just a dream. It is all over now." Julian's warm, large hand gently rested against her cold forehead, while his other hand used a soft tissue to patiently wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes.

"Julian, why are you here?"

"Gwen had an emergency and had to leave, so she asked me to keep watch."

Eliza softly nudged his hand away, taking the tissue to wipe her own sweat. "Thank you... for bringing me to the hospital."

A heavy silence fell between them.

Julian suddenly felt a wave of helplessness, as if he were looking at the fragile Eliza from Claremont Island all over again, terrified she might do something drastic.

He was genuinely afraid for her.

"Since you are awake, try to eat something."

Julian broke the stalemate, picking up the bowl from the nightstand.

His long, elegant fingers held the porcelain spoon, scooping up a small amount of warm broth. He blew on it gently before bringing it to her lips.

Eliza had not had a drop of water in two days. Her stomach felt like it was on fire, yet she could not swallow a thing.

She shook her head. "Thank you, but I really have no appetite."

"Be a good girl. Even if it is just to spite the people who hurt you, you have to stay strong. Just one bite, okay?"
