Seeing Eliza's face pale, a rush of sickening ecstasy washed over Yvonne.
She ran her mouth with reckless abandon.
"Let me tell you another little secret!"
Yvonne's voice was laced with a morbid thrill. "During that earthquake three years ago, she was buried under the rubble. Not only did she get her leg crushed, but she also had a miscarriage!"
The more Yvonne spoke, the more triumphant she became. Her eyes were locked onto Eliza's increasingly ashen face.
Her tone dripped with raw arrogance.
"The doctors said it themselves. She can never get pregnant again for the rest of her life! She's a barren cripple!"
"You're a perfectly fine man. You really want to drag a barren cripple back home to be your wife?"
"She's nothing but sloppy seconds that Zander got bored of and tossed away. Don't be the sucker who picks up his trash..."
Before Yvonne's shrieking insults could finish, a deafening crash exploded through the lounge.
Julian had kicked the heavy coffee table beside him hard enough to send it flying.
The glass tabletop shattered against the floor, sending jagged shards exploding into the air. One of the razor-sharp pieces sliced straight across Yvonne's calf, leaving a trail of blood in its wake.
"Ah—!" Yvonne shrieked in terror, stumbling backward in a panic.
"What are you doing! Are you a psycho!"
Julian stood absolutely still.
The gentle warmth that had just been resting in his eyes was replaced by pure, unadulterated murder.
The earthquake three years ago...
It was the most agonizing memory of Julian's entire life.
No one knew that beneath those ruins, he had dug with his bare hands until his fingers were shredded and bleeding, just to pull a dying Eliza from the rubble.
If only he had found her sooner. If only he had saved her faster!
She wouldn't have lost her baby, and her leg wouldn't have been ruined!
For three years, he had woken up in the dead of night, his heart tearing itself to pieces over that day.
The girl he cherished above all else, the girl he was too terrified to even touch for fear of breaking her, had lost her child and her beloved dancing career in that hellish disaster!
