Her voice was cold and razor-sharp. "Zander, you have two choices. Option one: we go to the courthouse tomorrow and get a clean divorce. I don't want a single dime of your money."
Zander looked at her in pure desperation. "I won't sign! Please, give me one more chance. I love you. We can start over..."
Eliza cut him off, completely ignoring his pleas. "Option two: if you refuse the divorce, I will send this video to every media outlet in Riverport and directly to your superiors."
Zander's eyes widened in sheer panic as Eliza continued, "I will sue you for infidelity, expose your little mock wedding with your childhood friend, and press charges for attempted murder. I guarantee the Roth family will never recover from the scandal."
"Either you sign the divorce papers, or you lose absolutely everything. Pick one."
He slowly rose to his feet, utterly unable to comprehend how his sweet, devoted wife could be so merciless.
"Are you seriously forcing my hand like this?" Zander buried his face in his hands in agony.
"If you hate me, take it out on me. Kill me if you have to. But if this video gets out, it will destroy my family and Yvonne. She has severe depression and is so fragile. If she gets torn apart online, she won't survive it!"
Eliza couldn't hold back a bitter scoff. Even now, he was still protecting Yvonne.
"That's not my problem," she retorted coldly.
"What about my parents? They're old, and pride means everything to them. If our family's century-old reputation is destroyed over this, it will literally kill them. Please, you've always been so kind. Can't you have a little empathy?"
Summoning every ounce of her strength, Eliza raised her hand and slapped Zander hard across his hypocritical face.
"Zander, you keep crying about Yvonne and your parents! What about me?"
"During the earthquake three years ago, and the storm two weeks ago—when you abandoned me, did you ever stop to think if I would survive?"
