Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 169

By the time they left the studio lot, it was already noon.

Jane walked Eliza to the parking lot and handed her a bottle of water.

"Are you absolutely sure you can pull this off? Three days is..."

"Jane," Eliza said, twisting the cap tight, her voice steady. "I survived being trapped under a collapsed building for seven hours. Churning out a routine in three days is nothing."

Jane let out a soft sigh, a flicker of sympathy crossing her face, and gave Eliza's shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

"If you need studio space, just let me know. Studio B's rehearsal room is open this afternoon."

"Thanks, Jane. I'll head home to map out the framework first. We'll figure out the studio space tomorrow."

Eliza returned to her apartment, changed into her activewear, and pushed the living room sofa and coffee table against the wall to roll out her yoga mat.

She booted up her tablet and listed Sean's parameters one by one:

Modern Dance + Classical Martial Arts Fusion.

Minimum of 90 seconds.

At least three mid-air wirework rotations.

Three days.

She closed her eyes, running the kinetic pathways through her head.

The explosive force of modern dance and the flowing breath-control of classical martial arts relied on completely opposed muscle memories. Jamming them together forcefully would just look like oil and water—pretty, but utterly disjointed.

Unless she found an anchor point.

Eliza opened her eyes and rapidly sketched out a frame on the tablet—a silhouette launching from the ground, twisting mid-air, and landing seamlessly into a classical sweeping transition.

She needed a bridge.

The circular momentum of the sweeping motion acted like water flowing around a curve—unbroken, fluid.

She stood up and tested the first transition movement on the yoga mat.

The moment her left foot slammed into the ground to generate force, a dull ache spiked through her knee.

She stopped, sitting back down on the floor. She grabbed the medicinal ointment from the coffee table, rubbed it between her palms to warm it up, and massaged it deep into the outer edge of her knee until the skin flushed.

Once the pain subsided, she stood back up.

She tried again.

This time, she shifted her center of gravity entirely onto her right leg, using the left strictly for balance and directional steering.

It worked.
