Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 151

The fluorescent lights in the hallway buzzed with a faint, static hum.

Zander stood frozen in place, looking entirely hollowed out.

His lips parted several times as if he wanted to defend himself, but he held it in for a long while until fine beads of sweat formed on his brow.

"I..."

"You still wired five thousand dollars to Miles."

Eliza pulled her phone from her purse, brought up the screenshot of her lawyer's reply, and turned the screen toward him.

"Arthur Sterling's exact words: 'Mr. Zander Roth voluntarily transferred a total of five thousand dollars to Miles Shaw without Ms. Eliza Shaw's knowledge or consent. This action constitutes a personal gift, holds no legal association with Ms. Eliza Shaw, and does not constitute joint marital debt.'"

She put her phone away.

"If you had even an ounce of sense, you wouldn't send money to a gambler. What are gamblers best at? Lying. They lie until you believe them. You believed him, you wired the money, and you got scammed."

"And then you come running to me, whining that you were played for a fool."

Eliza's voice was laced with pure mockery.

"Zander, take a hard look at your own mistakes before you ever try to point a finger at me."

Zander clenched and unclenched his fists, offering a weak defense.

"Eliza! I didn't mean to! I just wanted you to forgive me."

"And I tried! Can't you just consider my position for a second?"

"Are you saying you're completely without fault—"

But the rest of his sentence never made it out.

The door to the obstetrics department opened behind him.

"Zander..."

A tearful voice drifted into the hallway.

Yvonne leaned against the doorframe in her loose A-line dress, one hand clutching the wood and the other pressed protectively over her lower stomach. Her face was excessively pale—so pale it didn't look like genuine shock, but rather like three layers of foundation.

Her eyes were red, tears swimming in her gaze, and a few messy strands of hair clung to her cheeks.

Her fingers maintained a death grip on an ultrasound printout.

She had spotted Eliza the moment she stepped out.
