Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 10

A mocking smirk curled Eliza's lips, her gaze crystal clear and ice-cold.

"With your family's inability to tell right from wrong, preaching morality while being rotten to the core—even if you got on your knees and begged me, I wouldn't let your dirty needles anywhere near my leg."

"You—! You ungrateful little bitch!" Dr. Roth went livid, pointing a shaking finger at her face.

Eliza didn't waste another second on them.

She turned and walked away.

Even though her left leg had started going numb and throbbing from standing too long, forcing her into a slight limp, every step she took was fiercely resolute.

Under the sneering, mocking, entertained stares of the crowd, she walked straight out of the clinic without a single glance back.

Zander stood frozen, a sharp, unprompted pain stabbing violently through his chest.

He watched Eliza's retreating figure, then down at the shredded appointment slip scattered on the floor, and a massive wave of panic seized his heart.

Eliza stepped out of the clinic doors, only then realizing it had started pouring rain!

But right now, all she wanted was to get away!

Ignoring the weather, she charged straight into the downpour!

The freezing rain instantly soaked her to the bone.

Almost simultaneously, a sharp, agonizing pain spiked through her left knee.

It felt as though endless barbed ice picks were being jammed straight into her old fractures and twisted ruthlessly.

Eliza gasped, the color draining entirely from her face.

She bit down hard on her lower lip, leaning against a cold sycamore tree to keep her swaying body upright.
