Just then, his phone buzzed with a news notification. He almost ignored it, but as he went to swipe it away, the headline caught his eye and made him pause.
"Behind the Scenes: Billionaire CEO Xander Harrison's Wedding of the Century."
Finnegan scoffed as he skimmed the text.
Xander had shown some interest in Nora before, he had noticed that much. But in the end, the man was marrying someone else anyway.
It made sense. A calculating man like Xander would never have real feelings for Nora; it was just a fleeting game before he settled down with whoever benefited him most.
Only he, Finnegan Fletcher, had truly loved Nora from start to finish. He had faltered slightly, yes, but once he discovered the truth, his devotion was ironclad.
Everything he had done recently was solely to pave the way for this exact day.
The further he scrolled, the more ridiculous he found it. "Wedding of the Century? He's just throwing money at it for show."
Once he brought Nora back, the makeup wedding he'd give her would be a hundred times more extravagant than this flashy circus.
Finnegan was about to lock his phone when his thumb froze. He stared at the screen as if he had just seen something utterly impossible, his brow furrowing deeply.
He scrolled down to the photo of the bride. In that split second, all the ambient noise in the world seemed to vanish. He stood rooted to the spot, entirely paralyzed.
With trembling fingers, he aggressively zoomed in on the image. The bride in the photo was looking up at Xander, their eyes locked in an incredibly tender exchange.
And that bride was none other than Nora.
