I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 394

Seraphina hung up, leaving zero room for negotiation, and immediately dialed Finnegan's number. As soon as the call connected, the man's dark, icy voice came through. "Seraphina, I am warning you..."

She cut him off effortlessly. "Finn, Cassie is with me. I'm giving you exactly one hour. With your resources, you should be able to track me down, right? Because if you can't, Cassie might not make it home."

Finnegan's voice was frigid enough to shatter ice. "If you touch a single hair on her head, Seraphina, I will make you regret you were ever born."

Seraphina merely laughed and ended the call. She tossed the phone onto a dusty table, leaned against the doorframe, and stared at the darkening sky, a messy swirl of emotions brewing in her chest.

They were the ones who had forced her into a corner, so she wasn't in the wrong. If they hadn't pushed her, she would never have gone to these extremes. If anything happened to Cassie, the blood was on their hands.

Finnegan cared about Cassie so much; he always showered her with gifts whenever he returned from a business trip. There was no way he wouldn't care.

Seraphina clenched her fists, her nails digging so deeply into her palms that she didn't even register the pain.

She didn't know how long she stood there before the rumble of a car engine broke the silence. Seraphina jolted up and stepped outside. Headlights pierced the gloom as a white car slammed to a halt out front, and Nora burst out of the driver's seat.

Nora sprinted toward the house without a second's hesitation, her face deathly pale. "Where is Cassie?!"

A heart-wrenching sob echoed from inside. "Mom! Mom, I'm here!"
