Bonnie felt as if she had been plunged into an ice bath.

She looked at Dr. Zimmerman, a flash of bitter self-deprecation in her eyes.

"Would you be willing to work as the clinic's receptionist?"

She wouldn't learn a single thing there, nor would she have access to any critical patient cases.

But Dr. Zimmerman looked at her with total sincerity.

"The front desk doesn't require a medical license. It's the safest position we have. It guarantees you can stay here, and in the meantime, you can still observe the prescriptions we write."

Bonnie took a deep breath, violently crushing the disappointment in her chest, and gave a firm nod.

"Yes. As long as I can stay here, I don't care what the job is. Thank you, Dr. Zimmerman."

Dr. Zimmerman looked at her with deep admiration. This girl's resilience was even stronger than he had imagined.

"But Bonnie, listen to me. I highly recommend you sort out your personal relationship drama first."

He lowered his voice. "Otherwise, as long as whoever is targeting you keeps watching, it will be impossible for me to move you back into the consultation rooms."

Bonnie's eyes fluttered. "Relationship drama? Doctor, the person who reported me... it wasn't someone from the medical board?"
