I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 577

"I did it to save her. What if I had died today?" Hayden gritted out, furious at how heartless this woman had become.

All that deep affection and love from before must have been an act. Now that she had found a new powerful backer, she was finally dropping the facade.

"If you die, we'll bury you. We can even throw in a full cremation package. Given your wealth and status, Command HQ might even host a three-day memorial before lowering you into the ground. I actually have a friend in the funeral business. I can introduce you if you'd like."

Zoe snatched the phone from Garrett, delivered her piece, and hung up. She figured if Hayden had any dignity left, he wouldn't call back. Sure enough, Garrett's phone stayed silent.

Garrett struggled to suppress a smirk. "I think you're the only person in the world who dares to speak to him like that."

Zoe let out a cold scoff. He acted like a king, expecting everyone to bow to him. She was utterly done with him.

On the other end, Hayden's face contorted in absolute rage.

Quentin Muir extracted the bullet and dropped it into a metal tray with a clatter. "How rare. A few years ago, I pulled three pieces of shrapnel from near your major artery, and you didn't even flinch. Yet one little bullet is too much for you to handle?"

Hayden's mind was completely disconnected from Quentin's commentary. "Shut up. Don't bother me."

He needed silence. Total, absolute silence. If he didn't calm down, Zoe was going to send him to an early grave just from high blood pressure. He had saved her life, and she wished him dead.

He scoffed. She really couldn't wait to be a widow. What good would his death do her anyway?

"Ugh—" Hayden groaned, his expression twisting in genuine agony.
