I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 364

The Kendall Estate.

The butler and staff were busy packing luggage for Zoe and the family.

Lily was the most excited of all.

"Garrett, is it really okay for us to travel right now?"

Zoe was worried. Today was the trial, and Garrett had outright skipped it.

"The most crucial project is locked in. We can deal with the new partners when we get back."

Sylvia smiled warmly. "We make money to be happy, otherwise what's the point of working so hard? The weather in Miami is beautiful. Let Garrett show you and Lily the ocean and the blue skies. Being in a good mood is the best thing for the baby."

Arthur chimed in agreement. "Getting out of the city is a great idea."

Garrett answered his phone, his brow furrowing slightly.

"Alright. Understood."

Noticing his shift in demeanor, Zoe asked curiously, "What happened?"

"Easton requested a recess. They want to postpone the trial indefinitely."

"..."

Zoe couldn't fathom what Hayden was playing at. Garrett barely gave it a second thought, glancing at Zoe as he pieced together the puzzle.

It seemed Hayden still cared about Zoe, though clearly not enough to act rationally. If he thought he could hold Sterling hostage, he was dead wrong.

"If the case isn't closed, we can't finalize a contract with the next partner."

That was Zoe's main concern. Was Easton trying to bleed Sterling dry through a legal stalemate?

That scumbag couldn't let them have a single day of peace.

"Don't worry about it. We're still leaving, and we're still going to have fun. Lily told me she's never seen the ocean, so this is the perfect time to make her wish come true."

Hearing that they were still going to see the ocean, Lily danced around the room in absolute delight.

She threw herself into Garrett's arms, looking entirely at home.

Arthur nearly blew a fuse the moment he saw Alistair.

He pulled the professor aside, glaring fiercely.

"You old geezer! My grandson is taking my honorary granddaughter on a vacation. Why are you crashing it? Have you no shame?"

Alistair, who had been in high spirits, immediately scowled.

"What do you mean, your honorary granddaughter? Are you trying to act like my father? I'll have you know, she is my daughter. Arthur, I know exactly what you're plotting. Your grandson has feelings for Zoe, doesn't he?"

Arthur was so flustered by Alistair's blunt accusation that his face turned bright red, and he couldn't stammer out a single defense.

Alistair had him entirely figured out.

He deliberately poked at Arthur's deepest insecurities.

"To be honest, I'm quite fond of Garrett. But you've been trying to steal my girl from me at every turn, and I don't appreciate it.

If you play nice, I'll help set them up. But if you annoy me, I'll sabotage the whole thing. I'll make sure you won't even have a granddaughter-in-law by your eightieth birthday, let alone a great-grandchild."
