I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 320

“Forget it, I can't control what you do anyway. Just go.”

Beatrice Thorne didn't want to look at him for another second.

Hayden stood up, his voice low. “Zoe is waiting outside. I'll tell her to come in.”

Beatrice opened her closed eyes and let out a long, heavy sigh.

A moment later, Zoe Lynd walked in. Hayden brushed past her, striding away without giving her so much as a single glance.

Seeing that it was indeed Zoe, Beatrice’s face lit up with a mix of pleasant surprise and deep guilt. “What are you doing here? Did you hear what happened?”

Zoe helped the elderly woman sit up in the hospital bed, offering a soft murmur of acknowledgment. Her only focus was on Beatrice's health.

“The doctor said you collapsed from severe stress and anger. You need to avoid getting agitated, or it'll take a toll on your body.”

Listening to Zoe, Beatrice grasped her hand, her eyes swimming with helplessness and heartache. “My dear girl, I failed to protect you. I... I don't even have the face to look at you.”

Zoe held Beatrice's wrinkled hand in return, her expression calm and devoid of any blame.

“This isn't your fault, Grandmother Beatrice. I understand.”

Beatrice didn't know what to say.

After a long pause, she finally spoke with firm resolve. “Don't you worry. I'm the one who caused this mess, and I'll be the one to fix it. Nobody gets to bully the Thorne family's granddaughter-in-law.”

Right in front of Zoe, Beatrice made a phone call. Though Zoe didn't know who was on the other end, the promise was made swiftly—Terrence Winters would face the full consequences of his actions.

Truthfully, Zoe had already made her peace with the situation.

She just hadn't expected it to drag Beatrice into the crossfire, upsetting the elderly woman enough to land her in the hospital.

After hanging up, Beatrice looked at Zoe with a cautious, fragile expression.

“You won't let this push you to officially finalize the divorce with Hayden, will you? I know he’s entirely at fault. After all these years, I know exactly what kind of man he is. But please, for Lily's sake, give him one last chance.”

Beatrice's voice lacked confidence. If Zoe truly didn't want Hayden anymore, she would just have to accept it.

Her grandson really was an absolute bastard.

Guessing that Hayden and Sienna might crash the dinner and fearing Zoe would be bullied, he had turned back, only to find Beatrice looking unwell.

“Grandmother collapsed,” Zoe explained. “Because of what Terrence Winters did.”

That was when Garrett realized Terrence had actually been released. Unaware of the true circumstances, Beatrice had apparently used her connections to secure him house arrest.

“She adores you. She definitely didn't do it on purpose.”

Garrett was just worried Zoe would be heartbroken, but given Beatrice's strong sense of justice, it didn't seem like something the elderly woman would knowingly orchestrate.

Zoe hadn't taken it to heart. Beatrice had already remedied the situation, proving her love was genuine.

She didn't blame the old woman at all.

“I know. Terrence is back behind bars.”

This time, if he ever dreamed of getting out, he wouldn't stand a chance.
