With the Thorne family backing her, Sienna had no desire to make enemies of a powerful political dynasty like the Kendalls.
She threw a slow, alluring glance in Garrett's direction.
Her eyes pooled with practiced sympathy. "Mr. Kendall, you've really misunderstood. But we won't hold it against you."
Arthur Sr. was fuming, and Garrett completely ignored Sienna's overtures.
A false accusation was a false accusation.
"We can check the security cameras," Garrett stated flatly.
He despised people who played the victim after starting the fire.
Holden flinched, his guilt blatantly obvious.
As his mother, Sienna knew exactly what every one of his twitches and expressions meant.
"Hayden, let's go inside. Dad is waiting. And he's still injured..."
They couldn't let them check the footage.
Sienna lost her nerve.
Hayden's gaze swept lightly over Zoe.
Using the Kendalls as her shield. Hah.
So this was how she wanted to play it.
He was bored.
And he had lost all interest.
"Fine."
Hayden turned around, leading Holden and Sienna back into their private room.
The farce fizzled out quietly, but the elder Kendall was practically vibrating with rage.
"Is Lily really part of the Thorne family? And was that man actually Zoe's husband?"
Fearful that Lily was traumatized, Garrett's parents kept her distracted, chatting with her and finding new topics.
They took her off to order all her favorite desserts.
The old man cursed the entire way home. If Hayden were a Kendall grandson instead of a Thorne, he would have broken his legs by now.
Unbelievable. The old Thorne bastard had stolen another man's woman, and now the young Thorne prick was bullying his own wife.
"Don't you worry, Zoe. From today on, you are a Kendall. If anyone dares to bully you again, they'll have to deal with me first."
Zoe officially moved into The Kendall Estate, settling in with Arthur Sr. and Garrett's parents.
If she cared so deeply about public perception and wanted the world to acknowledge her as Mrs. Thorne, he would have considered giving her that validationโif she had just stayed quiet for a single month.
What a pity.
She couldn't even wait a day before throwing herself at the Kendalls.
Little did she know, his grandfather despised Arthur Kendall Sr. more than anyone else on earth.
Back in his room, the box containing Zoe's hand-drawn Blaze comics still sat on the floor.
He stared at it, his dark brows knitting tightly.
A compulsive liar. A master manipulator.
Even her love had been an act.
Hayden grabbed the box and hurled it off the second-floor balcony into the courtyard below.
Mrs. Gable and the staff jumped at the loud crash.
By the time they hurried outside, they found Hayden standing on the balcony, looking down like a wrathful god. He flicked a lit match onto the scattered papers. In seconds, a raging inferno devoured the comics. Blue flames licked the air, carrying the acrid scent of burning ink and paper into the night sky, until nothing but ash remained.
Riding a dull buzz, Hayden filmed a short video of the burning pages and hit send.
[Zoe, your love is sickening.]
