For the first time in his life, Hayden felt that Sienna was talking too much.
He actually found her annoying.
Seeing him remain silent, Sienna opened her mouth to continue.
But Hayden stood up and grabbed his suit jacket.
"We should take a trip to Sterling."
A surge of triumph rushed through Sienna.
She knew it. No matter the situation, all she had to do was drop Charles's name, and she could manipulate Hayden into doing exactly what she wanted.
Zoe never stood a chance.
At Sterling Group.
Garrett had set up a massive, private executive office for Zoe.
The floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking panoramic view of the city's commercial district.
Garrett's assistant walked in and informed him that a delegation from The National Assets Administration was there to discuss a partnership proposal.
Garrett turned to Zoe. "Come on, let's go together."
Zoe looked surprised. "Me too?"
Garrett smiled. "You're a part of Sterling now. We'll be attending a lot of these meetings together. The sooner you get into the rhythm, the better it will be for building your reputation in this industry."
Zoe nodded.
The memory of her bank balance plummeting to zero was still fresh.
The more skills she acquired, the more secure her future would be.
Zoe followed Garrett into the conference room to meet the government officials.
Once everyone was seated, they began discussing the proposal.
Zoe reached out and pulled the document toward her. Quinton Lewis, the director, shot Garrett a questioning look.
Garrett smiled calmly.
Garrett, naturally, sided with Zoe.
The previously warm atmosphere in the room instantly frosted over, and Garrett's tone cooled.
"Director Lewis, since our CTO has pointed out this vulnerability, I must ask you to revise and resubmit the proposal. Accountability is paramount. If a disaster occurs, neither of us can shoulder the blame."
Quinton's face flashed red and white, but he couldn't deny the logic of Zoe's argument.
To save face, he turned and snapped at his two subordinates.
"What is wrong with you two? Cutting corners on a federal proposal?"
Having found his scapegoats, he turned back to Garrett with a forced smile. "Mr. Stone, we'll take this back and rework it. Let's reconvene another day."
Garrett nodded and personally escorted the officials to the elevator.
By the time he returned, Zoe had already made a copy of their proposal and was meticulously analyzing the data at her desk.
Seeing her profound focus, Garrett found himself unable to interrupt her.
