Another man was standing next to the woman.
A melodramatic love triangle—Zoe was already numb before even watching.
"You're just throwing a tantrum at me, I can't let you leave with him."
The man refused to let go. A trace of resentment, mixed with an imperceptible hint of pride, flashed across the woman's face.
"You're the one who didn't want me. Why can't I find someone else? Asher Kendall, don't you think you're being too selfish?"
The woman's voice grew increasingly shrill, drawing the attention of passersby, and a crowd began to form.
Zoe never expected the drama to involve Nadia.
She reached out and covered Nadia's eyes directly.
Nadia stiffened completely, and when she pulled her body back, she was completely dazed.
"Nadia, you heard it too. Asher and that woman probably broke up. He's just stepping in."
Zoe didn't know how to console her; Nadia's beautiful face was unnervingly calm.
"Why are you telling me this? I secretly have a crush on my uncle, and he doesn't even know. Besides, he never made me any promises. He raised me since I was little, I owe him my life. If I still fantasize about him, am I even human?"
Listening to her, Zoe knew something was wrong with Nadia.
Nadia had always been straightforward—caring on the inside but sharp-tongued on the outside.
If she was blaming herself at a time like this, it was a massive problem.
Zoe quickly picked up the book Nadia had brought, trying to cheer her up.
"Didn't you say you wanted to discuss the upcoming plot? Let's talk about it now since we have the time. I'll go back and study him thoroughly, draw a few more volumes for you—"
Zoe caught the unfocused sorrow in Nadia's eyes and shut her mouth instantly.
She couldn't smile anymore.
Nadia personally tore the book to shreds right in front of her.
She kept her head down, stubbornly refusing to let her tears fall.
After a two-second silence, she suddenly laughed.
"Zoe, I was just joking with you. Don't draw the comic anymore, and just delete the photos."
Zoe looked at her cautiously. "How about I go to a bar with you after we finish eating?"
She planned to piece the shreds back together bit by bit when she had free time tonight.
Hopefully, she wouldn't be too heartbroken over Asher.
Thinking of how sad Nadia looked, Zoe's mood soured as well.
The sound of Hayden's car echoed from downstairs.
He had brought Lily back.
Zoe looked down at him from above, suddenly feeling that all the men associated with Hayden were just scum.
That Asher wasn't a good person either. If he didn't like Nadia, why mess with her?
He even let her live in his house, making the person who loved him watch him get cozy with others every day—didn't that hurt?
"Jerk..."
Zoe muttered a curse. Hayden heard it and looked up.
His eyes darkened slightly, utterly bewildered.
Was Zoe cursing at him?
