Sienna bit her lower lip tightly.
She needed to figure out a way?
For the past five years, Hayden had been the one initiating everything.
He pampered her, loved her, and accommodated her every demand.
She never had to actively do anything.
She never had to try and please Hayden, let alone act like a desperate fool chasing after him the way Zoe did.
With Sylvia suddenly demanding that she "figure out a way," she had absolutely no idea where to even start.
Haydenβ
Did she really need to work hard just to make him love her?
"I understand, Mom."
She gripped her phone, gazing out the floor-to-ceiling windows.
It was also about time she brought up the matter of Lily giving blood to Holden with Hayden.
Hayden returned to Blackwood Manor from the hospital.
The second floor was eerily quiet.
That kind of bizarre silence made even a man like Hayden, who had seen it all, feel a chill creep down his spine.
"Is my wife still here?"
He asked the question almost subconsciously.
Mrs. Gable had no idea either.
Hayden's face turned pale as he hurried up the stairs.
Watching his poorly concealed anxiety, Mrs. Gable shook her head slightly.
Mr. Thorne seemed like a completely different person lately.
Hadn't he realized that he had already started caring deeply about his wife a long time ago?
Pushing the door open, Hayden saw Zoe still lying on the bed, and his racing heart finally settled.
He stared quietly at the woman. Her eyes were shut tight, and her handcuffed wrists were a frightening shade of red.
Hayden felt a sharp pang in his chest. Zoe's skin was naturally luminous and nearly translucent, so pale that her veins were faintly visible.
Someone with such delicate skin definitely couldn't handle this kind of torment.
An unprecedented wave of guilt surged within him.
Hayden blamed himself deeply.
He quickly walked over. The woman didn't seem to register his presence, her breathing light but incredibly steady.
Hayden leaned over, gently patting her cheek and calling her name.
"Zoeβ"
Seeing no reaction from Zoe, he wasn't sure if she had fallen asleep or actually passed out.
Hayden just stared at her quietly, a hint of genuine tenderness softening his features.
"Planning another sneak attack?"
She had so many tricks up her sleeve nowadays that Hayden had to be extremely careful every time he got close.
Just to ensure he wouldn't end up on the front page again the next morning for being domestically abused by his own wife.
He didn't really care about his own image, but he still valued Zoe's reputation.
She had accumulated way too many messy incidents, and he was running out of ways to clean them all up.
When their daughter grew up, how was he supposed to twist the truth and tell her that her mother was a gentle, virtuous wife?
"Hayden, let me go."
The position was incredibly humiliating for her.
Hayden stared intently at her small face, as if trying to memorize every single detail of her skin.
"Let you go? You even dared to beat up my mother today. Who are you planning to punch next?"
Zoe turned her face away, refusing to waste her breath arguing with him.
It was clearly his mother who had shown up at her door to pick a fight first.
Hayden applied a fraction more pressure, and the two of them tumbled down together.
"If you won't apologize, then you'll just have to make it up to me another wayβ"
Two hours later, Zoe was drenched in the scent of their passion, exhausted as if she had just been pulled from the water.
