I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 120

"Which one of you called the cops?"

Dr. Muir scanned Ian and Ethan, eventually locking his eyes onto Ian.

Ian threw his hands up helplessly. "You can't blame me! I just bought this club a month ago. Someone told me the same guys who caused trouble at Win Lounge last time were back. I had no idea it was these two idiots!"

Ethan patted Ian's shoulder with deep sympathy. "Good luck staying alive."

Ian had already made up his mind. Before Asher and Hayden figured out he was the one who ratted them out, he was booking a one-way flight to Dubai to lay low for a few days.

At the station, Captain Briggs took statements from all three parties.

As the final step in the process, Captain Briggs pulled out his phone and looked at Hayden. "Mr. Thorne, should I call Mrs. Thorne to come down?"

It was just a matter of paying a symbolic fine.

If Captain Briggs had known it was them, he never would have led the raid himself.

Hayden remained silent for a few seconds, the crisp, metallic click of his lighter echoing in the quiet room.

"Call her."

Captain Briggs had Zoe's number on file and dialed it directly.

She picked up almost immediately.

"Hello, Mrs. Thorne? Could you please make a trip down to the station? Mr. Thorne got into a bit of trouble and needs you to bail him out."

After listening to Captain Briggs's request, Zoe suddenly let out a cold scoff. "You've got the wrong number. There is no Mrs. Thorne here. My last name is Lynd, and I don't have a husband. I have absolutely no idea who this Mr. Thorne is."

She ruthlessly hung up.

Both Hayden and Asher heard every single word loud and clear.

The mockery behind Asher's lenses was unmistakable, and his tone was brutally unforgiving as he openly humiliated Hayden.

"Even the great Mr. Thorne has a day where his own wife refuses to claim him. You two really are a match made in heaven."

Hayden's handsome face twisted slightly. After a few seconds of silence, he shot back, "At least someone wants you, Mr. Kendall. Captain Briggs, let him call his person to pick him up first."

Asher let out a cold snort, making his utter disdain for Hayden crystal clear.

He handed Nadia's phone number over. Captain Briggs could feel the explosive tension between the two billionaires, so he simply braced himself and pretended he didn't notice.

But the caller ID flashing on the screen was Philip Lynd. Zoe froze for a few seconds before swiping to answer.

"Zoe, Mr. Thorne just called me. He said you two had a little argument and you're refusing to answer his calls. You two are married, you need to swallow your pride! If you don't, the Lynd family is going to suffer again. Zoe, I know you're sensible. Grandmother Eleanor's exorbitant medical bills still need to be paid.

If the Lynd family falls, the rest of us and your grandmother will end up on the streets! Didn't you always love Mr. Thorne the most? Now that he's giving you a chance, you need to make up with him. Be a good girl."

Zoe bit her lower lip. Hayden used this exact same dirty trick every single time.

What a despicable bastard.

After exchanging a few more words with Philip, she hung up.

Thirty seconds later, Captain Briggs called Zoe for the second time.

Left with no other choice, she answered immediately, her voice unbelievably harsh.

"I'm on my way. Tell him to wait."

He could wait. She fully intended to wander around outside for another hour before finally strolling into the station to drag him out.
