I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 116

It took several minutes for them to regain a semblance of composure.

"Zoe, we both seriously offended Hayden today. Do you think he's going to come after you again? Why don't you just crash at my place?"

Nadia suggested.

Zoe scoffed.

"Who knows what that bastard is capable of next."

He had already forced her into the rain, and today she had cursed out his precious sweetheart.

Hayden might actually rip her apart.

"But Lilyโ€”"

Zoe hesitated.

She didn't want to go back to that house either.

Only an idiot would knowingly walk straight into that psycho's crosshairs just to face a brutal punishment.

"That's an easy fix. We'll just pick Lily up and bring her along. I'm living with Asher now. I refuse to believe Asher can't handle your husbandโ€”I mean, that bastard."

Asher was her ultimate shield.

Except for that time she had run into Asher's latest girlfriendโ€”

Nadia's eyes suddenly darkened, her mood souring for absolutely no reason.

"Let's go. We're picking up Lily."

Nadia was a woman of action, and Zoe decided not to overthink it.

The two women picked Lily up from kindergarten, taking her out for endless snacks and games.

It was getting late, and Lily was exhausted.

Returning to Asher's mansion, Nadia had the staff prepare a guest room for Zoe and Lily.

In the middle of the night, Nadia knocked on the bedroom door.

Zoe rubbed her sleepy eyes.

"Let's go drinking."

Zoe jolted awake.

In the middle of the night?

"Relax, the butler is here. We'll be back by dawn."

Nadia didn't give her a choice, dragging Zoe right out the door.

Nadia was dressed in a skimpy club outfit, while Zoe was dressed entirely too conservatively.

Nadia took one look at Zoe's outfit and frowned deeply.

"Miss, could you at least pretend we're going to a club? Dressed like that, people are going to think I kidnapped a nun."

Zoe adamantly refused to change.

"I'm sticking with this. I'm just here for moral support anyway."

Hayden had shoved that confession letter in her face, and she remembered its contents vividly.

It wasn't that she was terrified of Hayden; she just didn't want to suffer that humiliation ever again.

Nadia shrugged and let her be.

Asher grabbed his coat and headed back out into the night to drag her home.

He dialed Hayden's number as he walked.

If Hayden couldn't keep his own wife on a leash, Asher was prepared to use extreme measures.

Hayden was still at the hospital with Holden.

Thankfully, it was just a few scrapes and nothing life-threatening.

Sienna looked incredibly anxious as the doctor gave his instructions.

"The child has a severe immune condition. He absolutely cannot afford injuries. As parents, you need to be much more vigilant. This cannot happen again."

The doctor had clearly mistaken Sienna and Hayden for a married couple.

A faint blush crept up Sienna's cheeks. She stole a glance at Hayden, and upon seeing that he had no intention of correcting the doctor, her blush deepened.

Holden glared at Hayden, extremely dissatisfied.

"Uncle Hayden, when are you going to shut that place down?"

Hayden ruffled Holden's hair, trying to figure out a gentle way to correct his behavior, when his phone rang.

Seeing Asher's name on the screen, Hayden paused for a moment before finally answering.

"Your wife dragged Nadia out to a club again."

Asher sounded thoroughly pissed off.

Hayden's gaze instantly turned glacial.

"Your woman was the one threatening to sue me. Asher, stop calling me about this. Whatever Zoe does is none of my damn business."
